As a result of this thread, I ended up writing a song for FAWM:

"Don't care that I'm not famous
Won't be a superstar
I just want more guitars
Than there absolutely are"

...and that Langcaster would be first on the list.

best,
Chris H

I don't care much for guitars like that. They seem overdone to me.

I wouldn't say they're overdone. Just that they look like a Russian pimp sneezed all over a piece of Oregon coast driftwood art and then it got made into a guitar by a Mississippian with a Camaro abuse problem.

It's got a nice bridge, though. Schaller. Good kit.

You make it sound like a popularity contest Big Grin

I don't like Langcasters.

But if it is a popularity contest, I do like Boog's Langcaster better than lith's. Boog is just a more convincing person in general.

Yeah right, absolutely, me too!

I don't like mountains - big dumb rocks with snow on top.
Don't like lakes either - only water through which water flows.

Love 'em, for no good reason. Fell in love when Fender started selling MIJ reissues in the 90s, then saw Greg Dulli playing one for years. I don't know why, but they do suck me in.

The wood is freakin' beautiful. I don't think a reason is needed.

The glossy finish looks best on them, I think. Something about the thick gloss layer over dark rosewood makes it look like a preserved artifact.

I priced out a rosewood tele body from Warmoth once. Yikes. Backed slowly away from the crack pipe.

I'll take this opportunity to thank you for turning me onto that crack. I used to be content owning a single, playable guitar. Never again!

Thanks for that.

Those things are insanely heavy. They're not made for old guys to lug around.

That's what kept me from buying the MIJ instead of my Casino back in the day. I was a weak little fucker.
