Been enjoying me some Daath lately. For some reason someone I was talking to referred to them as some sort of record company created supergroup thingy, and I took that attitude onboard (dumb me). Went looking for my own info and discovered they're nothing like that, and the music is great and the (Kabal-based) conceptual framework interesting.

Will post some next time I'm in the office, but that's in mid-January.

And if I post this in this thread I might not get the bollocking I'd probably get in the broader WGB. Although I know Boog is a cat-lover.

What it is, it was pissing down rain when we found the cat's body. I left the task of burying it until the rain stopped, which ended up being a day, then got busy for another day. So I buried it this morning, which was a good thing because it would have been able to crawl home soon otherwise (and I don't mean it was still alive).

To bring it back on topic, I probably won't be listening to any early-period Carcass for a while...

Argh, that's sad, but of course the cat didn't know the difference. It's still sad though. Roadkill always makes me sad, even if it's not the domestic variety.

Kudos to you for burying it even in its insalubrious state.

After listening to Gojira's "From Mars to Sirius" I just have to say that I hate them.

hate them.

Every trick in my bag, every stalled out, palm muted, staggered rif, every manic twitch and pinch harmonic, every sluggish octave crawling bridge....even things I'd forgotten, like sweeping the pick above the nut...they have used on this album. Every friggin' one!!!

It's like someone knew what I've been trying to do for the last 20 years, and beat me to the punch.

Fuckers.

This is perfection. On the track "Backbone", My head asplode.

This is what I hear when I dream.

You forget the headstock chime? Granted, it doesn't get wheeled out much these days. Kurt used it for the intro to "You Know You're Right," but that's generally about as mainstream as it got.

One of Zakk's Les Pauls has the...bit where the ball end of the strings rest (I'm not too familiar with the anatomy of the Les) set back from the bridge, where he pulls of most of his chimes.

Am liking Gojira's instrumentality, not so much their vocals. Film for "To Sirus" is well done.

Oh, and this is for Bravus...to help him sleep at night.

Sweet dreams

...you bastard...

Did you see this one? Pretty impressive accoustic rendition of Backbone by some unknown kid on youtube. And yeah, Gojira owns.

For the Mike Patton loving video gamers, check out The Darkness for 360. Neat game about a mob hitman who's possessed by a demon voiced by Patton. The fact that he does the voice with no effects is very impressive. I quite enjoyed the sickness of the game too.

New Sepultura

Sounds pretty heavy, and that cello adds a nice touch there. I would like the production a bit deeper sounding though, there not that much bass sounds in it. Pretty cool video.

The metal pub here wasn't playing metal...

They had Acca Dacca onstage!

"Death metal lyrics and themes [should not] be taken literally."

The whole world around is collapsing. You mean it's not for real ???
