I just used my Searchstring Sensei skills to discover that the 20th Anniversary Edition of Neuromancer should be published in November 2004 by Ace Books.

Hey FP i got it! Its a Ace First Edition 1984-paperback neuromancer. Who ever bought and sold it didn't even read it ! The half of the stickers were still on it and the binding is still without a scratch Smile

To my knowledge WG wasn't in London on June 24, 2004, so I don't win L_han's most generous offer of the 1st Edition Neuromancer (which printing was that anyway?)

However I have found the book cover for the 20th Anniversary Edition of Neuromancer.

What does the number line on it say? This is how you can see which printing it is.

the numbers are higher and they go 29 28 27 26 25
it says printed in july 1984, cover art by Richard Berry.
it also says This book was first published as an Ace Science Fiction original edition. The first through third prints were as an Ace Science Fiction Special, edited by Terry Carr. i didn't even see that special edition anywhere before.
i guess i should be a little sad but i am not, i paid $4.20 for this book- even the tag price was $5.99 Smile
and i didn't know this detail about prints, thanks FP.

I also checked my first edition Douglas Adams' Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. That one is hard cover and has the numbers 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 but says Manufactured in the United States of Americapublished by Simon & Schuster, NY
I guess that one is a genuine first/first for states at least...
i really like this first edition book discussion maybe you should start a thread about this FP?

Perhaps he's been blogging for a while, and not posting it because he needs to reconnect with his blog narrative voice. If he's waiting for notes from his editor on an early draft of his next novel, he sure as hell doesn't want to write some livejournal entries about his new iPod or post links to penguin flash games he's recently discovered. Right? Or maybe he never wants to read another, "Talking to the Blog" thread again. So I'm gonna guess September 21st 2004. Because that's when Ashpool releases its next CD and I talk about my band in the third person and don't post much anyway. Razz
