Judging from eBay, I guess it'll be between €100 and €150.

I paid around €300 for the whole thing last year (the console itself was already second-hand).

Seeing as you rigged it up essentially to be a dancemachine, you should probably try to find somebody who is interested in just that. 'Cause the first thing i would do is toss away those songs and stepmania thing.

A local market has a stand outside for produce that's "ready to be eaten". I had always passed by it on my way in until this week.

- 5 Lbs of beautiful bloody tomatoes for $2.00
- A bag of 'baby' eggplants for a buck

In honor of the Gemany/Costa Rica match I went to Total Wine which is a huge liquor store in Tampa. Picked up a mix-n-match six pack. All Germans, including a rauch bier (sp?) came to over $15. Not very cheap skate of me at all.

I have bought a new cellphone, off eBay.

One of the new Nokias.
For half what it would cost in a store.

The description was very short.

I'll send my check tomorrow.

I don't want to know where they got the phone from (it's supposed to be new, andstill wrapped).
Actually I would like to know...

I just hope this is not a trick.

I got my Razr the same way. They were flooding ebay when the big cell phone companies were offering buy one get one free deals.

Best Before

Another way to get free stuff is to find expired goods in your supermarket. Depending on store policy they might give you the same item (un-expired) for free or some other sort of goody.

One of the supermarket chains in Denmark gives you free chocolate if you find an expired product.

The other day I found a package of coleslaw that was a week past its expiration date, and brought it up to the check-out with the rest of my stuff. I asked the checker-boy if I got anything for finding it, and he looked at me like I was crazy. He had never heard of such a thing. I told him that it was a common pasttime for poor people. He checked out the rest of my stuff and I asked him what the store policy was. He said he didn't know and asked the manager who said, "We are very *thankful* when customers inform of us of expired goods". So no goodies for me that day.

What about you others. Can you get free stuff for pointing out expired goods? Have you done it?

/flashback

Used to be some stores here that sold nothing but old pastries, the local version of twinkies, hostess cupcakes and the like. Still in original wrapper but marked with fat gobs of paint, signaling it as an expired product that was recalled from supermarkets and regular stores. Half price, or better. I liked when we got a dozen choco rolls for the price of three. And the strange, tangy flavor that they had acquired... yeah, I wonder if that might explain a few things...

Eeew.

Although i do like FP's story about supermarkets giving free chocolat when you find stuff past their date. That'd give me stuff to do with my spare time Wink

Woot! Just sold plates and cups for $65!
Only have some tea cups and espresso cups to go, and if I sell them I'll get another $35 dollars or so!

At the local Salvation Army brought a cassette of two good old boys (from Kansas!) doing a basic electronics Q/A... Amazing!
At one point the guy answers "F+r times sima equals Ft" and the other guy says "Whatever you say". !!!!
Wonder how many people flunked their electronic thechnician license test listening to this crap!
Priceless.

some of my great bargains on the road:

faux black suede boots for 5 quid, reduced from 40 quid in cardiff's next outlet

3 x eyemasks to cut out the eternal scottish light for 37p each instead of 5 quid each from boots in blackpool

same morning 3 bath sheets half price

4 pack of beer (might have been stella artois) reduced by 1 pound 50 because the cardboard holder was ripped from the co-op in Lerwick

where we're staying here in montmatre is jam packed with cheap clothes, not sure if the lightning bolt will strike me or not.

Went to a local comic book warehouse on Saturday. The guy that owns it must just buy collections indiscriminately. All back issues were a dollar. I found:

I'm not usually a batman fan, but it is a prose book and features a batman story by isaac asimov.

I also got about 15 additional comics. The total came to less than 20 bucks.

Can I bone Kai and Butchie know my Father, instead?
