According the creator (whose name escapes me) in an interview in Animag *waaaaay back*, it refers to the tension in the story, like a bubble about to pop.

Boon Ga Boon Ga's manifestation of the weird oriental mind.
And speaking of anime... titles like BoogiePop Phantom and Those Who Hunt Elves really give me some chuckles. Capturing elves by forcing them to undress? |

the best new words come from the farthest margins. it's more dissonant when we see others doing it, emmersed in the language as we are, (only using we for convenience) but english is evolving all the time to meet the measure of the constantly churning pool of ideas, objects, etc in the world. wg's greatest strength is inventing the slanginess, strange rhythms, names, and materials, in short, the words, that describe a place as far removed in time as "the future." i can't wait to see what this style can do when (explicitly) applied to the present.
there's a whole website dedicated to found examples of japanese english at www.engrish.com |
