Hi, and welcome!

I'm from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) myself, but don't hold that against me! You'll find the people here intelligent, charming, challenging and interesting... um, pretty much to the exact extent that you yourself can be those things... In other words, exactly like any other forum, 6-space or 14-space*.

Bravus

* Figure it out, people...

For whatever it's worth, there sure seems to be a lot of Canadians on the board.

Why is that?

I've noticed that too, the gaggle of canucks that is. Anybody have any theories? In all fairness, Bravus may live in Canada, but he's really from Oz.

Too many of us city canucks have nothing to do all winter, (yes, I don't like snowmobiles!) so I guess we spend our time online instead. But that doesn't really explain the summer months then does it? Oh well...

Yep, I've been outed as an Aussie spy living in Canada! Apart from the snow, it's actually hard to tell the difference between the two countries... Wink

Have you abandoned AFL/NRL in favour of the hockey yet? Big Grin

Val asked about our fearsome Australian winters. Depends where you are (you can freeze to death quite nicely in the mountains) but this'll give you an idea of current Melbourne weather. Although it doesn't really give you the proper 4-seasons-in-1-day experience.

Mid-winter temp ranges here in the city would be eg a low of 0-3 up to a high of 11-12.

Hehe - well, it's like this - I'm a Sydney boy originally, but moved to Melbourne and then to Perth. My beloved Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles also got swallowed up in a merger, so I kind of got alienated from the Rugby League. So I still follow the Bombers in footy, and of course gloat about Australian victories in cricket (to universal "huh?" responses in North America!) I can't really get into the whole hockey (or 'ice hockey' as I call it - everyone knows field hockey is 'real' hockey!), but I'm enjoying CFL, which is the simpler, smaller and less American (more Canadian) version of NFL...

I think Edmontonians tend to be even more weather obsessed than Melburnians, but maybe that's understandable when the weather can kill you here, really!

Bravus

PS Don't regret the move for a minute - the opportunities here are fantastic. If I was in Oz I'd be unemployed, probably...

on the skyline today (and most everyother day I suppose), there's a building with a central utility...um bit, making up the head and two cranes on the two opposite sides. So it looks like the building's got it's arms in the air menacing the other poor buildings. grr. arrg.

winter in brisvegaz means you can wear long-sleeved shirts and occasionally you'd have to wear a jacket. Though the other night, I had to wear earmuffs and a scarf, but I looked around the Valley and 70% of the people were sans jackets. I'm just a wimp.

hiya *_*

Edmonton is the capital city of Alberta (located in the mid-northern part of said province) which is the 2nd westmost province of Canada which is directly above the U.S. Wink
