I think the move toward mysticism was almost inevitable, from the moment Roslin had her first visions. I don't mind it so much, it's not as obvious as the cheesy religion you saw on DS9. But I do want to see a little hard-nosed realism from some of the characters. My bigger problem is the continuing excuse of irrational behavior. and personal indulgences.

Ron Moore used to criticize Voyager for their habit of blowing up shuttles, as if they were an endless resource, and here is blowing up ships left and right. These peopel should be dead by now.

Can't wait for this week's episode!

quote:

Are you sure this is the biggest "Galactica" ever?
Yes.

Bigger than the episode that ended with Boomer putting two bullets in Bill Adama's chest?
Yes.

Bigger than the episode that leapt ahead a year?
Yes.

Bigger than the episode that revealed the Watchtower Four?
Yes.

Will this post spawn the lengthiest "Galactica" talkback ever forged?
Yes.

You know, I don't know if it was built up too much, but I thought it was sort of meh.

Frak! I still would have flushed Tigh simply because I hate the character. I hate hime more than Baltar.

I'm betting that can't be Earth. And, if so, well, the whole planet can't glow in the dark.

Now we wait until January '09.

I think the mysticism is problematic becuase it is allowing for lazy writing as you yourself mention in regards to irrational behaviors and the like.

Was that ending supposed to be a shocker?

Was I supposed to be blow away?

Was I supposed to forget I ever saw Planet of the Apes?

Oh, Earth nuked itself...

Yeah...

So?

January?!?! You got to be kiding, right? I was thinking something like Sep/Oct. It did say "Mid Season Finale".

Well, the ending wasn't a shocker, but the whole episode was. It felt like seasons 1 and 2 again, 'cause for me season 4 was a bit off.

It's scheduled for January.
I think the WGA strike had something to do with it.

This episode was brilliant.
Not my favourite, but still very solid.

A particularly good, but very short scene was when Baltar intercedes and negotiates with D'ana over the hostage situation. (He reminds her how she underestimated the colonists at New Caprica.)

He's really old and senile, and he's living in the ruins of the D.C. Capitol, with a bunch of cats.

I mean, if we're gonna crib from 70's sf movies, let's make it a clean sweep.

And we're back...

First things first : let's refresh our memory, thanks to these two montages.
Catch the Frak Up - Part 1
Catch the Frak Up - Part 2

BSG returns on January 16th

Meanwhile, there's a bunch of webisodes to keep us busy : The Face of the Enemy.
They are co-written by Jane Espenson, who provides commented versions.

BSG - The Face of the Enemy - Part1 (commented version)
BSG - The Face of the Enemy - Part2 (commented version)
BSG - The Face of the Enemy - Part3 (commented version)

Still in progress...

I think the final cylon is a distributed model. They are all cylons and only Gaius is human. That'd be funny. Poor fucker.

BSG - The Face of the Enemy - Part 6 (commented version)

Apparently, Amazon posted the 10 episodes by mistake.
They removed them before I could access it.
