Anybody done this yet?

The local news here in Tampa says that it works, you have to sign up for a free trial period with one of the retailers listed on the site and you have to get 5 other people to do so as well. They can cancel the free trial before they start to pay anything but they do have to give a credit card when they sign up. After about 1 month you do recieve a free IPOD. Has anybody else done this or heard of it?

If it's on the net, and has FREE in capital letters on its page, it's a scam.

I'm suspicious of anything free but, but I'd never hand my cred card details over the net for anything not solidly backed.

Mental note to my self, ask dotherobot in an Mounth if it was worth an iPod (that means, if he actually ever received a real one - which I seriously doubt btw).

Newsguy did get his, he interviewed the comapny and they claim to have given away about 50,000. He did say the hard aprt is getting five friends to sign up for free trials without the incentive of getting their own IPOD. Since they require the people to sign up with one of their advertisers they get about $60 per person that signs up from the advertisers. That is what gives them the budget to give away the IPODs. The hard part obviously is finding five suckers ... I mean friends to help out.

Any takers?

Daddy wants an IPOD

I'm going to buy one cheap off a friend who's upgrading to the 40 GB. His old one is a 10 and I'm cool with that.

Good catch DP, I emailed the news station because the reporter used a bunch of other staffers credit cards to get his freebie. I wonder if their next story will be "Fox13 Staffers ripped off by Internet Scammers"
