I have just watched the last episode, then immediately read this thread.
I can't comment until I watch it again. Fun is a strong feature of the casting, but should not influence the plot. Initial disappointment. My theory remains intact. Series 3 will no doubt offer proof, or not, within the first 3 episodes... so I'll not bore you at this stage. The four toe'd statue has alot to offer. |

First, explain this riddle:
"Fun is a strong feature of the casting, but should not influence the plot." And please, by all means, bore us at this stage. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "No blossoms wither so quickly as yesterday's tomorrows." --Disch "He looked upon us as sophisticated children: smart but not wise." --said of Ishi |

Does anyone recognise the girl in the pic? It's kind of familiar. |

First off I thought it was Kristy Brinkley, but then I realised we're back in 2006! Bah.
Lizzie's sea sick? |

Bic, (sing-songy) I don't see you regaling us with any theories.......
Come on, friend. We're aching for 'em. Lizzie's gotta be messed up about her dead husband. And don't forget he shares a name with Hurley's imaginary friend. Someone's going to correct me later, put imaginary in quotation marks and think it was their idea. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "No blossoms wither so quickly as yesterday's tomorrows." --Disch "He looked upon us as sophisticated children: smart but not wise." --said of Ishi |

Hmmm...
If I were to share it then it would no longer be mine, losing its sparkly feel. But as you say, "Lizzie's gotta be messed up about her dead husband" and as such, you are very close to my truth. Now, why donate your dead husband's boat? "He got sick... he died". |

OK, I'll throw you a line...
"How many times are you going to watch that thing? ...just make sure you put it back, behind Turn Of The Screw". I am now more sure than ever. For the record I have not visited any of the Lost forums/borads etc and only ever discussed it with you peeps. |

The sky lit up... or did they all just see the light at the same moment?

funny to see all the discussion about whether that guy was jack or not, i didn't see it at all, didn't think he looked like him at all. weird.
and very little actually in this thread, though that bit would likely have been a spoiler. for me - there was clearly a release when desmond turned the key - that sent out waves light and sound. the light looked purple to me, and thats how claire described it. now what set off the light in the watch station? they said "not a false alarm this time", so was that a response to the previous system failure which crashed the plane or what? alternatively, it had something to do with desmond's book, since he opened the book before when he was going to kill himself, and the station then phoned his girlfriend to tell him that they had found desmond. that seems less likely, but certainly there must be some connection to her/father. and i really can't believe they killed libby, that was so fucked up, especially when they clearly have so much more to do with her. but is libby a form of lizzie? or are we going to have a twin sister scenario?? or was she just mental? not like they haven't established name variants - hurly and sawyer being obvious examples. and indeed, what was with that parrot, did anyone hear it saying hurly's name? i didn't. the weird animal thing seemed to be less prominent in this series, much less of the polar bear type stuff and what happened to all the boar? mr.echo was on a chat show along with jin and charlie, and they showed still by still from his encounter with the black smoke - within the cloud were scenes from his past life. but it wasn't something that was particularly visible at normal speed. ramble, ramble, ramble. |

That would be much like the series itself, wouldn't it. |

The book references are big clues, appearing throughout both series to-date.
Can't wait for Series 3 to air next week: October 4th 2006 on .ABC in the U.S. - I'll have it by this time next week. Yes. Thinks its a long wait until May 07 for UK TV fans |

I really don't understand why they bother delaying cross-market releases anymore. Is it really that difficult to download shows in the UK? Is there more money in advertising for summer timeslots in the UK? Wot's the deal?

I was a bit pissed off by the end of series 2. It now all seems to revolve around Desmond, a minor character who has appeared in only a few episodes.

with the idea that it was desmond that caused the crash, i would take that as having a certain irony more than anything else.
the ice station, alarm, looking for desmond, i would take that as another aside to the whole. i think why they crashed is mostly arbitrary, the idea of what the island represents and how they all deal with it remains the central thing, and what really keeps us coming back for more. the circular references add texture, diversions, red herrings, and all that, keeping us guessing. though the big question remains how badly it will suffer from milking and whether they can actually bring it all together in the end. |
