If the taxman is kind, I might repeat Lyon this year-- it was out of this world.

I also quite fancy Scotland some time, maybe Edinburgh for the festival but may have to choose. Getting a bigger apartment some time, when one comes on the market. Not a good time to sell, and people don't.

look into hotels first.
i can't remember when i booked last year, but it was earlier than this, and it was tight.
i intend to go, but it really depends on hotels. not had a chance to look into it yet though.

Egypt is going to put a big dent in my wallet actually. I don't know if I'll be able to do this either.

Remote, please let me know though if you do find something.
What are the exact dates we're talking about?

i had a quick look yesterday and there did seem to be some options available. but didn't have enough time to establish how valid those were.

about to go off to austria for a week with newro for the ars eletronica festival. so thats taking my attention for now. but i'm still keen to go.

last year i arrived late thursday and stayed till the monday. the monday seems to be the "official holiday" so it was the hardest to get a room for. but between friday and saturday we cleared off the big displays and sunday hit the indie self-contained installations.

which would make it friday 4th, saturday 5th, and sunday 6th as being core target.

last time i ended up with absurd wait in gatwick. looks like it would have been smarter for me to go to paris direct and get train from there. so i'll be looking into that as an option this year.

Official info here.

If you don't fly to Lyon, land in Paris and get a TGV train (2 hours station to station, perhaps a few minutes longer from the CDG airport). It will be much more convenient than a domestic flight. Once you've booked a hotel, I can tell you which station in Lyon will be closer to where you stay.

well, I'm kinda clueless about Lyon and the country plus I don't speak the language.
so It would be great if maybe we could coordinate flights.
Say I would be awaiting for you in CDG and we could do the train ride together... if possible.

also booking a hotel in relative proximity to other wigbers would be a very big plus.
what's the area I should be looking into?

so I should travel with a Thursday arrival and a Tuesday departure.

i wondered if i'd phrased that badly.

it was near impossible to get a room for the monday night, so we left on the monday.

we'd pretty much seen everything anyway i think

the event starts on friday evening, after dark. so you do have leeway for travelling on the friday.

but travel was so much hassle the way i did it that i got in like 11pm on the thursday. though, i'd have been better going through paris.
