yeah. I used to really like math, and still sorta do. But still, the above solution is probably wrong... i was always better at the bits that didn't have too much numbers to calculate Wink

I make it -3.

-1/4(5x+3)=3/10(7-x)

multiply out by the denominators on each side:

-10(5x+3)=12(7-x) (ok, the denominators are 4 and 10, I probably skipped a step by just multiplying both sides by 40 instead of doing it one denominator at a time)

multiply out again:

-50x-30=84-12x

Move the x's to the left and the numbers to the right of the equals, swapping signs where necessary:

-50x+12x=84+30

add them up:

-38x=114

Divide both sides by 38:

-x=3 == x=-3

Ah, right, the polynomials aren't supposed to be part of the denominators.

That makes it much easier.

I was reading that as

-1                  3
_______ = _________
4*(5x+3) 10*(7-x)

Yeesh.

Yeah, -2.12. Not more difficult at all.

Made a small mistake and ended up with 3. But Kradlum is right (and we shouldn't do other people's math homework.)
