Out The Window - Yo La Tengo

I'm sitting round like I got nothing to do
Got something to say, but not to you, not now
I'm just waiting for the back and forth that won't begin
Back to back, that won't seem to end
I'm here waiting for a sign
Everything goes out the window
Watching you walk out the door tonight
When my hope falls, bounces off you, hits the floor
splits into 2 or 3 pieces.
Well, I'm still waiting on it,
down and down to the empty space where it lays
Where it falls apart
I'm stuck waiting for some sign.
Everything goes out the window
Watching you walk out the door
I wrote a letter to my oldest friend,
forgot it for awhile.
Then on second thought, I read it through and threw it out,
I'm through waiting on a sign

Onion Soup-vic chesnutt

Thin and unshaved
Drunk and mysterious
Oh, I must say
Lifestyle is curious
With a little touch of the sniffles
And filthy socks
Gnawed, crumbled fingernails
Never doing tomahawk chops
Flaky head
Dandruff is distinguished
Laquer is red
Vain is the varnish

"What is at the root of this?"
She'll say "whatcha got?"
"What participle do you possess?
She'll say "which I have not!"
One blustery day
We rode out to the meadowlands
We saw and were amazed
Then hauled it back into town again

Mississippi is a mess sometimes
And not only when it rains
How come you went back to that malaria island
'Cause our friendship is strained

Those were the days
When you were so cosmopolitan
These are the days
My letters they're so increasingly maudlin

I wrote you an eloquent postcard once
About this most exquisite onion soup
But, of course I never mailed it though
Cause it was your turn in the loop

and for the tiniest moment it's all not true"

"me and my mates thought we had it sussed - valentinos, all of us,
my dad said we looked ridiculous, but boy we broke some hearts"
-this song has some great other lyrics in it as well but i can't remember them at the mo

There's a man going around in this town selling lies.
He's the bad businessman
And the mess he sells is bad
And the mess he leaves is sad.
He's a clown
That's going to get bounced around
If he don't keep his business underground.
He's a player
But every time he deals a round
It's a bad hand
What a bad man.
Beware of what he sells.
It's shooting you straight to hell.
T'ain't no bottom in that wishing well.
Bad businessman.

she's leaving home - the beatles

"Father Lucifer" - Tori Amos

Father Lucifer
You never looked so sane
You always did prefer the drizzle to the rain
Tell me that you're still in love with that Milkmaid
How's the disease?
How's your Jesus christ been hanging?

Nothings gonna stop me from floating
Nothings gonna stop me from floating

He says he reckons I'm a watercolour stain
He says I run and then I run from him
And then I run
He didn't see me watching
From the aeroplane
He wiped a tear
And then he threw away our appleseed

Nothings gonna stop me from floating
Nothings gonna stop me from floating

Everyday's my wedding day
Though baby's still in his comatose state
I'll die my own Easter eggs
Don't go yet
Just don't go
And Beenie lost the sunset but that's OK
Does Joe bring flowers to Marilyn's grave
And girls that eat pizza and never gain weight
Never gain weight
Never gain weight
Father Lucifer you never looked so sane
You always did prefer the drizzle to the rain
Tell me that you're still in love with that milkmaid
How's the disease?
How's your Jesus Chirst been hanging?

The first song on Warren Ellis's The 4AM 10: "Ode To Innocence" by Aaron McMullan, is just amazing. Some really good lines.

quote:
There's a couple books I read to you
When nighttime grants me dreams

quote:
And I recall apologies
Stacked up in threes
Anticipating
Some new sorrow
Some disgrace

quote:
There's a woman used to wander
'Long the train tracks whispering
To lovers long since lost to history
To memory.
Distant as the faces
She can't recognize in photographs
Still hanging down on strings across her chest.

'Times I see her in my dreams
Cursing wildly at Prometheus
Says give me back my blindness
And my ignorance

And let my lost naivite
Crawl tween my legs and enter me
And let me taste my youth with every breath

"Glory Box" - Portishead

I'm so tired, of playing
Playing with this bow and arrow
Gonna give my heart away
Leave it to the other girls to play
For I've been a temptress too long

Just. .

Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be ee, a woman
I just wanna be a woman

From this time, unchained
We're all looking at a different picture
Thru this new frame of mind
A thousand flowers could bloom
Move over, and give us some room

Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be ee, a woman
I just wanna be a woman

So don't you stop, being a man
Just take a little look from our side when you can
Sow a little tenderness
No matter if you cry

Give me a reason to love you
Give me a reason to be ee, a woman
Its all I wanna be is all woman

For this is the beginning of forever and ever

Its time to move over... ...

It ain’t easy, living free,
Season ticket on a one way ride,
Asking nothing, leave me be,
Taking everything in my stride.
Don’t need reason, don’t need rhyme,
There ain’t nothing I would rather do;
Going down
For the time.
My friends are going to be there too

I’m on a highway to hell,
Highway to hell.
I’m on a highway to hell,
On a highway to hell.

Ya.

No stop sign, speed limit,
Nobody gonna slow us down.
Like a wheel, gonna spin it.
No-one gonna mess me ‘round.

Hey, Satan! Paid my dues,
Playing in a rockin’ band.
Whoa, Mamma! Just look at me.
I’m on my way to the promised land.

I’m on a highway to hell,
Highway to hell.
I’m on a highway to hell,
On that highway to hell.

Ya.

Don’t stuff me. Ya. Ya..
Ya.

I’m on a highway to hell,
Highway to hell.
I’m on a highway to hell,
On that highway to hel///

Highway to hell.
I’m on that highway to hell.
Highway to hell.
I’m on a highway to hell.

You are gonna come down with us.
Ya.
Ya.
Ya.
Ouh.
Then I’m going down, oh Lord.
All the way.
Yea. All the way. Going down.
On that highway to hell.
Woh.

You think you're tired now?
Wait 'till you start seeing things moving on the walls...

No lyrics. They should be.

"Silly Girl" - The Descendents

Started on a summer Sunday
Your pink dress on the setting sun
You were going to Grandma's house, I was too scared to come

My silly girl, I'm beggin you
Tell me all the things that I want to hear
My silly girl, I'm in love with you

I had to run to catch you,
You always moved so fast
With your cute little smile and your silly laugh,
God gave me love at last

My silly girl, I'm beggin you
Tell me all the things that I want to hear
My silly girl, I'm in love with you

They said just stay away
Right now I wish I had
I'm so in love with you, my silly girl
They made me go away
Sometimes life just isn't fair, but I'll be back someday
I hope you'll still be there

My silly girl, I'm beggin you
Tell me all the things that I want to hear
My silly girl, I'm in love with you

When you're just a silly boy like me, you're always so scared
Now I'm just out of luck, I wonder if you ever cared

My silly girl, I'm beggin you
Don't stop being a silly girl
My silly girl, I'm in love with you

They said just stay away
Right now I wish I had
I'm so in love with you, my silly girl

"If It Be Your Will"

If it be your will
That I speak no more
And my voice be still
As it was before
I will speak no more
I shall abide until
I am spoken for
If it be your will

If it be your will
That a voice be true
From this broken hill
I will sing to you
From this broken hill
All your praises they shall ring
If it be your will
To let me sing
From this broken hill
All your praises they shall ring
If it be your will
To let me sing

If it be your will
If there is a choice
Let the rivers fill
Let the hills rejoice
Let your mercy spill
On all these burning hearts in hell
If it be your will
To make us well

And draw us near
And bind us tight
All your children here
In their rags of light
In our rags of light
All dressed to kill
And end this night
If it be your will

If it be your will.

Jesus Saves - Slayer

You go to the church, you kiss the cross
You will be saved at any cost
You have your own reality
Christianity
You spend your life just kissing ass
A trait that's grown as time has passed
You think the world will end today
You praise the Lord, it's all you say

Jesus saves, listen to you pray
You think you'll see the pearly gates
When death takes you away

For all respect you cannot lust
In an invisible man you place your trust
Indirect dependency
Eternal attempt at amnesty
He will decide who lives and dies
Depopulate Satanas rise
You will be an accessory
Irreverence and blasphemy

Jesus saves, no need to pray
The gates of pearl have turned to gold
It seems you've lost your way

Jesus saves, no words of praise
No promised land to take you to
There is no other way

As far as I'm concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue.

"Pull My Strings" - Dead Kennedys

I'm tired of self respect
I can't afford a car
I wanna be a prefab superstar

I wanna be a tool
Don't need no soul
Wanna make big money
Playing rock and roll

I'll make my music boring
I'll play my music slow
I ain't no artist, I'm a business man
No ideas of my own

I won't offend
Or rock the boat
Just sex and drugs
And rock and roll

Drool, drool, drool, drool, drool, drool
My Payola!
Drool, drool, drool, drool, drool, drool
My Payola!

You'll pay ten bucks to see me
On a fifteen foot high stage
Fatass bouncers kick the shit
Out of kids who try to dance

If my friends say
I've lost my guts
I'll laugh and say
That's rock and roll

But there's just one problem

Is my cock big enough
Is my brain small enough
For you to make me a star
Give me a toot, I'll sell you my soul
Pull my strings and I'll go far

And when I'm rich
And meet Bob Hope
We'll shoot some golf
And shoot some dope

Is my cock big enough?
Is my brain small enough?

As far as I'm concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue.

She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen

Family Way - The Men They Couldn't Hang

Been in jail for twenty years, it was twenty years ago
Fought a man with my bare hands, killed him with a blow
I'd searched the bars and betting shops in every part of town
Swore that night he'd wear a suit of pinewood six feet down

A changing world keeps moving fast
My yesterday's tomorrow's in the past
When it's one against the rest
Always puts you to the test
But I swear I'd do it all again today
Cause it's the family way

In hospital my brother lay just looking at his wounds
They caught him down by London bridge one Friday afternoon
It was the strangeness of his accent, the bareness of his purse
Because there was but one of him and three to do their worst

My brother died and left behind a girl bearing a child
She broke down at the funeral to see his face defiled
She wore the silver ring of fiancee
Both were taken to our home, shown the family way

When I get out a week today I'll take the London train
There's two men there who've bought a share in twenty years of pain
In this old world your kith and kin are all that's on your side
Twenty years won't matter when the matter's put to rights

"Data Control"

A nine digit number
For every living soul
That is all they talk about
At Data Control
They know everything about you
Keeping secrets is too hard
Your life is all recorded for you
In holes punched in computer cards

Data Control (digital readout)
Data Control (perforated feedout)
Data Control (microfilm files)
Data Control (1984 style)

A multinational corporation
A stockholder's dream
A nightmare of diversity
A defense system so supreme
Too technical to talk about
Too complex for layman's brains
It's enough to make you paranoid
Or drive you crazy losers sane
