Too Early For The Sky
Lyrics & Music by Johnny Clegg Performed by Johnny Clegg & Savuka I nearly disappeared into the mouth of a crocodile I nearly touched the rain deep in the heaven on high I could have been a sad piece of news on the radio But you remembered me cause you know Im not ready to go Oh halala, Im home, looks like I made it, oh halalo Oh halala, oh halala, ngasinda, oh halalo Chorus Im too early for the sky Wenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina (oh my lord, you spared me) Somewhere some grey computer nearly closed my file This could have been the last time I ever saw you smile The darkest night nearly swallowed up my eyes But you remembered me cause Im not ready for the sky Oh halala, Im home, looks like I made it, oh halalo Oh halala, oh halala, ngasinda, oh halalo Chorus |

Make the cats dance Make the birds sing Make the rabbit hop, hop Oh rabbit, don't stop And the bear plays triangle And the beaver plays a banjo While a chorus of bees Do the fandango... Phuzzbot & the Cavemen, LuckkyDogg _____________________________________ ::swoon:: |

"A Boy Named Sue"
My daddy left home when I was three And he didn't leave much to ma and me Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze. Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid But the meanest thing that he ever did Was before he left, he went and named me "Sue." Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk, It seems I had to fight my whole life through. Some gal would giggle and I'd get red And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head, I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Sue." Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean, My fist got hard and my wits got keen, I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame. But I made a vow to the moon and stars That I'd search the honky-tonks and bars And kill that man who gave me that awful name. Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July And I just hit town and my throat was dry, I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew. At an old saloon on a street of mud, There at a table, dealing stud, Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me "Sue." Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had, And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye. He was big and bent and gray and old, And I looked at him and my blood ran cold And I said: "My name is 'Sue!' How do you do! Now your gonna die!!" Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes And he went down, but to my surprise, He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear. But I busted a chair right across his teeth And we crashed through the wall and into the street Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer. I tell ya, I've fought tougher men But I really can't remember when, He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile. I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss, He went for his gun and I pulled mine first, He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile. And he said: "Son, this world is rough And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along. So I give ya that name and I said goodbye I knew you'd have to get tough or die And it's the name that helped to make you strong." He said: "Now you just fought one hell of a fight And I know you hate me, and you got the right To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do. But ya ought to thank me, before I die, For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye Cause I'm the son-of-a-bitch that named you "Sue.'" I got all choked up and I threw down my gun And I called him my pa, and he called me his son, And I came away with a different point of view. And I think about him, now and then, Every time I try and every time I win, And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him Bill or George! Anything but Sue! I still hate that name! ------- Birth, School, Work, Death |

Bombs
Faithless We think we're heroes, we think we're kings We plan all kinds of fabulous things Oh look how great we have become Key in the door, the moment I've been longing for Before my bag hit the floor My adorable children rush up screaming for a kiss, and a story, they're a gift to this world My only claim to glory I surely never knew sweeter days Blows my mind like munitions I'm amazed So much heaven, so much hell So much love, so much pain So much more than I thought this world could ever contain So much war, so much soul One man's loss, another man's goal So much more than I thought this world can ever hold We're just children, we're just dust We are small and we are lost And we're nothing, nothing at all One bomb, the whole block gone Can't find me children and dust covers the sun Everywhere is noise, panic and confusion But to some, another fun day in Babylon I'm gonna bury my wife and dig up my gun My life is done so now I got to kill someone So much heaven, so much hell So much love, so much pain So much more than I thought this world could ever contain So much war, so much soul One man's loss, another man's goal So much more than I thought this world could ever hold So much more than I thought this world could ever hold So much more than I thought this world could ever hold (slightly abridged) -------------------------- A titanium wren never sings. |

The man never sang much, and now he mostly recites, but he really empowers those words, live...
Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son? Oh, where have you been, my darling young one? I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains, I've walked and I've crawled on six crooked highways, I've stepped in the middle of seven sad forests, I've been out in front of a dozen dead oceans, I've been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard, And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, and it's a hard, And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall. Oh, what did you see, my blue-eyed son? Oh, what did you see, my darling young one? I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it, I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin', I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin', I saw a white ladder all covered with water, I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken, I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children, And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall. And what did you hear, my blue-eyed son? And what did you hear, my darling young one? I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin', Heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world, Heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin', Heard ten thousand whisperin' and nobody listenin', Heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin', Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter, Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley, And it's a hard, and it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, And it's a hard rain's a-gonna fall. Oh, who did you meet, my blue-eyed son? Who did you meet, my darling young one? I met a young child beside a dead pony, I met a white man who walked a black dog, I met a young woman whose body was burning, I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow, I met one man who was wounded in love, I met another man who was wounded with hatred, And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall. Oh, what'll you do now, my blue-eyed son? Oh, what'll you do now, my darling young one? I'm a-goin' back out 'fore the rain starts a-fallin', I'll walk to the depths of the deepest black forest, Where the people are many and their hands are all empty, Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters, Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison, Where the executioner's face is always well hidden, Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten, Where black is the color, where none is the number, And I'll tell it and think it and speak it and breathe it, And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it, Then I'll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin', But I'll know my song well before I start singin', And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, It's a hard rain's a-gonna fall. Names. Numbers. Held as though they might be a map, a map back out of the underground. |

I'm too tired to deceive you
we can't pretend there's nothing wrong who'll be the first to say it? that the thrill is gone and we never get it back now When we talk of old acquaintances and speak like two strangers all day long the only four words that I hear are: the thrill is gone and we never get it back now When evening drops magenta and goodnight hangs on and on and on and on I don't need to go to sleep and dream to tell me that the thrill is gone and we never get it back and we never get it back now so what I am gonna do now? so what I am gonna do now? Names. Numbers. Held as though they might be a map, a map back out of the underground. |

I am the one, Orgasmatron, the outstretched grasping hand
My image is of agony, my servants rape the land Obsequious and arrogant, clandestine and vain Two thousand years of misery, of torture in my name Hypocrisy made paramount, paranoia the law My name is called religion, sadistic, sacred whore. I twist the truth, I rule the world, my crown is called deceit I am the emperor of lies, you grovel at my feet I rob you and I slaughter you, your downfall is my gain And still you play the sycophant and revel in you pain And all my promises are lies, all my love is hate I am the politician, and I decide your fate I march before a martyred world, an army for the fight I speak of great heroic days, of victory and might I hold a banner drenched in blood, I urge you to be brave I lead you to your destiny, I lead you to your grave Your bones will build my palaces, your eyes will stud my crown For I am Mars, the god of war, and I will cut you down. ------- Birth, School, Work, Death |

Tim Hardin, "Shiloh Town"
It's so cold in Shiloh town Birds can't hardly sing Pretty girls gonna leave the town They won't be back 'til spring War is done they've come back home But they're the ones that lost See a man and a woman alone Was it worth the cost? I'll sing hallelujah You'll sing hallelujah We'll all sing hallelujah When they arrive at home Sun is out it's hot to today Children all come out to play Some are quick to come back home Others, gone to stay Gets so cold in Shiloh town Birds can't hardly sing Pretty girls gonna leave the town They won't be back 'til spring I'll sing hallelujah You'll sing hallelujah We'll all sing hallelujah When they arrive at home |

As The Machine Rolls On... - Napalm Death
Hiding behind symbols Self-delusion Plenty of questions (And no solutions) Visions of change A mere illusion Futile dreams Of revolution Flows of rhetoric Won't influence change Their will is subdued Their minds enslaved As far as I'm concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue. -Albert Einstein |

“Darkness Be My Friend” - Bruce Dickinson.
Cold sunlight, falling on me. Cold sunlight, falling on me. I am a lonely man, sorrow is my friend - Fall asleep as the dawn comes up, a ray of hope again. Hold a crystal vision, for a second, let it pass. Hold a crystal vision, for a moment, make it last. Summer’s so quickly gone, And darkness be my friend. Nothing lasts forever, But the certainty of change. I am a lonely man, sorrow is my friend. Nothing lasts forever, but the certainty of change. Nothing lasts forever, but the certainty of change. |
