I'm liking this one, recently.
The View - Modest Mouse Your gun went off. Well you shot off your mouth and look where it got you. My mouth runs on too. Shouts from both sides, "Well we've got the land but they've got the view!" Well now here's the clue. Life it rents us. And yeah I hope it put plenty on you. Well I hope mine did too. As life gets longer, awful feels softer. Well it feels pretty soft to me. And if it takes shit to make bliss, then I feel pretty blissfully. Your gun went off. Well you shot off your mouth and look where it got you. My mouth runs on too. Shouts from both sides, "Well we've got the land but they've got the view!" Well now here's the clue. We are fixed right where we stand. Life it rents us. And yeah I hope it put plenty on you. Well I hope mine did too. We are fixed right where we are. As life gets longer, awful feels softer. Well it feels pretty soft to me. And if it takes shit to make bliss, well I feel pretty blissfully. For every invention made how much time did we save? We're not much farther than we were in the cave. As life gets longer, awful feels softer, and it feels pretty soft to me. And if it takes shit to make bliss, well I feel pretty blissfully. If life's not beautiful without the pain, well I'd just rather never ever even see beauty again. Well as life gets longer, awful feels softer. And it feels pretty soft to me. For every good deed done there is a crime committed. We are fixed. For every step ahead we could have just been seated. We are fixed. As life gets longer, awful feels softer. Well it feels pretty soft to me. And if it takes shit to make bliss, well I feel pretty blissfully. We are fixed. We are fixed. We are fixed right where we stand. |

"Jesus Christ Was An Only Child" - Modest Mouse Well Jesus Christ was an only child He went down to the river And he drank and smiled And his dad was oh-so-mad Should have insured that planet Before it crashed Working real hard to make internet cash Work your fingers to the bone sitting on your ass I know now what I knew then But I didn't know then what I know now Penny found out as her hair was styled You should hide you kids While the dogs run wild Jesus Christ was an only child He went down to the river And he drank and smiled And his dad was oh-so-mad Should have killed that little fucker Before he even had As far as I'm concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue. -Albert Einstein |

They keep popping up while I'm listening to Pandora and drawing. Everything I've heard from them I've liked. Now seriously considering picking up one of their albums, which would make my second Pandora-induced music purchase.

"Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The House Of Representatives" - TISM
Will you be able to take the danger? Can you stand the heat? Will the honourable member for Blackstown Resume his fuckin' seat? It's in the parliamentary process Whereto danger dwells: A division that's required - Ring the bells! Ring the bells! Proportional representation Really boils my blood - All rise now for the entrance Of the Usher with Black Rod. "I warn the Honourable Member!" The frantic speaker yells: "I name the Honourable Member!" Ring the bells! Ring the bells! You can ring the bells, ring the bells! Gimme bi-cameral legislature You can ring the bells, ring the bells! Gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme bi-cameral legislature Don't gimme no Proletarian dictator Questions without notice Are burning in my soul - A double dissolution Leaves no time for rock 'n' roll. "I'm a country member!" Doug Anthony did yell. Yeah mate, we remember - Ring the bells! Ring the bells! You can ring the bells, ring the bells! Gimme bi-cameral legislature You can ring the bells, ring the bells! Gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme bi-cameral legislature Don't gimme no Proletarian dictator Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature Gimme gimme bi-cameral legislature The Lithos School of Curiousity is now enrolling |

Cold Blows the Wind - Ween
Cold blows the wind over my true love Cold blows the drops of rain I never had but one true love And in camville he was slain I'll do as much for my true love as any young girl may I'll sit and weep down by his grave for twelve month and one day But when twelve months were come and gone This young man he arose What makes you weep down by my grave I can't take my repose One kiss, one kiss of your lily white lips -- one kiss is all i crave One kiss, one kiss of your lily white lips and return back to your grave My lips they are as cold as my clay My breath is heavy and strong If thou was to kiss my lily white lips Thy days would not be long Oh don't you remember the garden grove where we used to walk Pluck the finest flower of them all, twill wither to a stalk Go fetch me a nun from the dungeon deep And water from a stone And white milk from a maiden's breast, That babe ere never known Go dig me a grave both long, wide and deep as quickly as you may I'll lie down in it and take one sleep for twelve month and one day Cold blows the wind over my true love Cold blows the drops of rain I never had but one true love And in camville he was slain I'll do as much for my true love as any young girl may I'll sit and weep down by his grave for twelve month and one day As far as I'm concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue. -Albert Einstein |

Alive with the Glory of Love, by Say Anything:
When I watch you, wanna do you, right where you're standing. Right on the foyer, on this dark day, right in plain view Of the whole ghetto, the boot-stomped meadows, but we ignore that, yeah. You're lovely baby, this war is crazy, I won't let you down, No, I won't let them take you, won't let them take you, hell no no. Oh, no, I won't let them take you, won't let them take you, hell no no And when our city vast and shitty falls to the Axis, yeah… They'll search the buildings, collect gold fillings, wallets, and rings, But Miss Black Eyeliner, you'd look finer with each day in hiding, Beneath the wormwood, oh love me so good. They won't hear us screw away the day. I'll make you say: “Alive! Alive! Alive with love, alive with love tonightâ€... |

Going, going, gone
Bob Dylan I've just reached a place Where the willow don't bend. There's not much more to be said It's the top of the end. I'm going, I'm going, I'm gone. I'm closin' the book On the pages and the text And I don't really care What happens next. I'm just going, I'm going, I'm gone. I been hangin' on threads, I been playin' it straight, Now, I've just got to cut loose Before it gets late. So I'm going, I'm going, I'm gone. Grandma said, Boy, go and follow your heart And you'll be fine at the end of the line. All that's gold isn't meant to shine. Don't you and your one true love ever part. I been walkin' the road, I been livin' on the edge, Now, I've just got to go Before I get to the ledge. So I'm going, I'm just going, I'm gone. I'll be back though. Hopefully with pictures of Virgin Fest ______________________________________________________________ ...after all you can chuck bones in an envelope -- remotepush "Damn it Jim, I'm a doctor not an animator!" -- Thal ...if it's that small a world, it starts to smell funny -- CayceP |

Cry if you want to
I won't tell you not to I won’t try to cheer you up I'll just be here if you want me It’s no use to keep a stiff upper lip You can weep you can sleep you can loosen your grip You can frown you can drown and go down with the ship You can cry if you want to Don’t ever apologize venting your pain Its something to me you don’t need to explain I don’t need to know why I don’t think it’s insane You can cry if you want to The windows are closed The neighbors aren’t home If it’s better with me than to do it alone I'll draw all the curtains and unplug the phone You can cry if you want to You can stare at the ceiling and tear at your hair Swallow your feelings and stagger and swear You could show things and throw things and I wouldn’t care You can cry if you want to I won’t make fun of you I won’t tell any one I won’t analyze what you do or you should have done I won’t advise you to go and have fun You can cry if you want to Well it’s empty and ugly and terribly sad I can’t feel what you feel but I know it feels bad I know that it's real and it makes you so mad You could cry Cry if you want to I won’t tell you not to I won’t try and cheer you up I'll just be here if you want me to be Near you Retired |

Coil: Tattooed Man
------------------- There's a man lying down in a grave somewhere With the same tattoos as me And I love him, I love him, I love him, I love him, I love him There's a man lying down in a bed somewhere With a different set of sex aspects And I hate him, I hate him, I hate him, I hate him, my eyes This is me here now Pining like a dog, whining like a dog in a thick harbour fog Waiting for a ship that will make him sick And when the ship comes, big trouble His trouble will begin And the church bells chime the colour of wine And the angels devil fight to snatch back the lost time And there's a man lying down with a blade somewhere With the same taboos as me And I love him, I love him, I love him, I love him, I love him There's a man lying down in a bed somewhere With a different set of sex aspects And I hate him, I hate him, I hate him, I hate him, my eyes This is the dark age of love This is the dark age of love This is the dark age of love This is the dark And I love him, I love him, I love him, I love him, I love him There's a man laying down There's a man laying down There's a man laying down There's a man laying down somewhere Somewhere |

Diana Krall dedicated this song to her husband, Elvis Costello, who is at NYC while she tours in a bus with their 20 month old twins.
Although she said she also enjoys the opportunity for late night partying after the gigs. Put the kids to bed, play at 11 and party afterwards. And I can confirm she did go partying, leaving the concert venue at 2 am. Exactly like you I know why I've waited Know why I've been blue I pray each night for someone Exactly like you Why should we spend some money On a show or two No one plays those love themes Exactly like you You make me feel so grand I wanna give the world to you You make me understand Every foolish little dream I'm dreaming Every scheme I'm scheming I know why my mother Taught me to be true She meant me for someone Exactly like you I know why I've waited Know why I've been blue I pray each night for someone Exactly like you Why should we spend some money On a show or two No one plays those love themes Exactly like you You make me feel so grand I wanna give the world to you You make me understand Every foolish little dream I'm dreaming Every scheme I'm scheming I know why my mother Taught me to be true She meant me for someone My baby, exactly like you Retired |

Wow. Great lyrics, Psychophant.
Edit: this one since you seem to be "post pumping" tonight. Heh. Cry if you want to I won't tell you not to I won’t try to cheer you up I'll just be here if you want me It’s no use to keep a stiff upper lip You can weep you can sleep you can loosen your grip You can frown you can drown and go down with the ship You can cry if you want to Don’t ever apologize venting your pain Its something to me you don’t need to explain I don’t need to know why I don’t think it’s insane You can cry if you want to The windows are closed The neighbors aren’t home If it’s better with me than to do it alone I'll draw all the curtains and unplug the phone You can cry if you want to You can stare at the ceiling and tear at your hair Swallow your feelings and stagger and swear You could show things and throw things and I wouldn’t care You can cry if you want to I won’t make fun of you I won’t tell any one I won’t analyze what you do or you should have done I won’t advise you to go and have fun You can cry if you want to Well it’s empty and ugly and terribly sad I can’t feel what you feel but I know it feels bad I know that it's real and it makes you so mad You could cry Cry if you want to I won’t tell you not to I won’t try and cheer you up I'll just be here if you want me to be Near you Reminds me of a learning curve I had when in relationship with a psychologist, in my 30's. He was great in relating this point of view, yet later accused me of not loving him `cause I burned bacon after he sexually distracted me while cooking for us. And, accused me of not loving him because I had been distracted. A kinda catch-22 I could not begin to live with. I don't do kind and crazy well, especially with a young child at the time. Still, that was a way shown from the judgemental stuff I'd grown up on. Who wrote this lyric, please? This message has been edited. Composed by Casey Scott, the version I have in mind is by Holly Cole Trio. You can listen to a live version here.
Another friendship song I am listening a lot these days is this one: I'm sticking with you 'Cause I'm made out of glue Anything that you might do I'm gonna do too You held up a stage coach in the rain (in the rain) And I'm doin' the same (the same) Saw you hangin' from a tree (from a tree) And I made believe it was me (was me) Oh, I'm sticking with you 'Cause I'm made out of glue Anything that you might do I'm gonna do too. Many people going to the stratosphere Soldiers fighting with the khan But with you by my side I can do anything When we swing We hang past right and wrong I'll do anything for you Baby, anything you want me to Oh, I'll do anything for you Oh, I'm sticking with you Retired |

Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk - Rufus Wainwright
Cigarettes and chocolate milk These are just a couple of my cravings Everything --it seems-- I likes, a little bit stronger, a little bit thicker, a little bit harmful for me If I should buy jelly-beans Have to eat them all in just one sitting Everything --it seems-- I likes, a little bit sweeter, a little bit fatter, a little bit harmful for me And then there's those other things Which for several reasons we won't mention Everything about 'em is a little bit stranger, a little bit harder, A little bit deadly It isn't very smart Tends to make one part So brokenhearted Sitting here remembering me Always been a shoe made for the city Go ahead accuse me of just singing 'bout places Where scrappy boys faces have general run of the town Playing with prodigal sons Takes a lot of sentimental valiums Can't expect the world to be your raggedy andy While running on empty you little old doll with a frown You got to keep in the game Retaining mystique while facing forward I suggest a reading of a lesson in tightropes, or surfing your high hopes, or adios kansas It isn't very smart Tends to make one part So brokenhearted Still theres not a show on my back Holes, or a friendly intervention I'm just a little bit heiress, a little bit Irish, a little bit... tower of pisa Whenever I see ya So please be kind....if I'm a mess Cigarettes and chocolate milk Cigarettes and chocolate milk |

In the days, the golden days
When everybody knew what they wanted It ain't here today Through the times of lasting love When parents talked of things tried and tested It don't feel the same Dreams and belief have gone Time, life itself goes on Far beyond the shrinking skies Where money talks and leaves us hypnotised It don't pave the way Underneath the fading sun The silent sum of a businessman Has left us choking Dreams and belief have gone Time, life itself goes on In the days, the golden days When everybody know what they wanted It ain't here today Dreams and belief have gone Time, life itself goes on Half Day Closing - Portishead As far as I'm concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue. -Albert Einstein |

Back in the 80's, as usual.
Smoked my last cigarette, sat in bed for a while. Thought of your face, and that brought me a smile. Wanted another one. Fell back asleep, instead. Woke and found you sitting there on the bed. Cigarette, cigarette, Burning up time. Cigarette, cigarette, Watch the smoke climb. Cigarette, cigarette, Wasting away. Just like this cigarette, our time is running down. Only one hour til you're leaving this town. Went to the corner store, bought us another pack. Held my arm around you as we headed back. I tried to change your mind. Didn't want you to go. I want you more, it seems, than you could ever know. Cigarette, cigarette, Burning up time. Cigarette, cigarette, Watch the smoke climb. Cigarette, cigarette, Wasting away. Just like this cigarette, our time is running down. Only one hour til you're leaving this town. Smoked my last cigarette, sat in bed for a while. Thought of your face, and that brought me a smile. Cheese, but I like it:
嫌ã„ãªç¾½ã‚’僕ã«ãれよ Those wings you hate, give them to me (Siren - Asian Kung-fu Generation) Unfortunately in English, or at least my translation, and because it's written instead of sung, the begging, near hopelessness of the line is lost. |
