This makes GW look like a epitome of moderation.

Communist USA

I suppose this was among WG's reading trove...

Pay special attention to Mr. Hoover's letter in page 2.

But with my wife working, who will care for the children? THE CHILDREN!

He got tired of his old sig, and changed it.

I searched and searched and I can't find the version with 1961 crossed out and 1974 inserted and a sticker with Rumsfeld's signature stuck over the top of Hoover's. I also can't find the version with 1974 struck out and 2002 inserted, with a shakily scrawled "Islam" written over every instance of "Commun", and the Rumsfeld sticker still intact.

Mmmmhh... and this differs from most of actual society how..?

And, seems they just replaced 'communism' with 'drugs', then 'antiglobalism', then 'terrorism', so they could keep using the letter. Neat.

You'd think Trotsky would have noticed the presence of a tall, white, Russian-looking guy in a sombrero, pancho and fake mustache.

Poor bastard.

and if that weren't enough, the pick-axe behind his back would've tipped him off...

Now if only we could come up with a system that eliminated religion, communism and consumerism. Nah. Utopias don't usually end well.

Nonsense, Splitcoil.

Utopias are just fine, as long as there is only one person in residence.

Move in a second citizen or whatever, and you can kiss it all good-bye.

Is there only a limited number of plugs to pull?

Or a limited imagination in Government?

Or humans like cycles...

And wondering what the fuck he was doing carrying an iceaxe in Mexico.

Edit: Crapski, comrade. Boogerhead beat me to it (though I like the absurdity more of the iceaxe).

That'll learn me to read some thread better.

On a side note, I think the most effective piece of propaganda to come out of the Cold War was the blurring in the public mind of "Communism" and "Socialism".

I always wondered about the iceaxe. It seems like it should have been a Python Sketch.

Scene: Mexican Mountaineering shop, a Mexican shopkeeper behind the counter.

Enter tall Russian dressed as a Mexican.

Russian: I like to buy Iceaxe please.
Shopkeeper: Certainly senor, bent or straight?1
Russian: Bent please.
Shopkeeper: Adze or Hammer?
Russian: Adze
Shopkeeper: I'm afraid we're out of stock
Russian: Hammer then
Shopkeeper: Oh, we just sold the last one.
Russian: I'll take straight one then.
Shopkeeper: Certainly senor, adze or hammer?
Russian: Adze
Shopkeeper: Ah, I'm afraid the delivery is late
Russain: Hammer then
Shopkeeper: Not much call for those around here
...
Russian: Shut that bloody Balalaika off! Have you in fact got any iceaxes here at all.
Shopkeeper:Si, senor.
Russian: Really?
Shopkeeper: No. Not really, senor.
Russian: You haven't.
Shopkeeper: No senor. Not a scrap. I was deliberately wasting your time, senor.
Russian: Well I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to shoot you.
Shopkeeper: Right-Oh, senor.

1It almost became a Not the Nine O'Clock News sketch at this point.

Actually, Trotsky's assassin was Spanish, Ramón Mercader, and his codename was GNOME. Perhaps that explains the hat...
