I think it's a hideously fantastic dress.

Or a fantastically hideous dress...

Hm, weighing the initial photos against this thread's title, perhaps a more humorous title...

Suplise!

Even I don't find that humorous.

All the very best to the happy couple.

That, and Lithos already beat Metro to the joke (after a whooooooooole lot of work!)

Yah, but Mr. Cake told that joke two and a half years ago. Told it much better, too.

I'm even later than Shadoth, but I was away, and I already said it, but congratulations again!

Plus a similar joke was the funniest part of the movie UHF back in (what?) 1985 or so.

OK, I understood that part.

As promised, here's a little bit more. We're still
waiting for the official photos, so here's a
little bit about the best damned dinner ever.

First we had appetizers of grilled vegetables,
some cucumber maki, some salmon maki, and some
sort of meat balls.

Then, on to the real dinner.

  • Kabocha salad: Japanese squash salad with cucumbers, onions, and Alaskan king crab meat.
  • Miyoga chicken: Boiled chicken topped with fresh Japanese herbs served with sesame vinaigrette dressing. I had Miyoga tofu.
  • Dragon eyes: Deep fried salmon roll served with our heavenly dragon sauce
  • Sashimi: Slices of raw red tuna, yellow tail, Japanese sea bass, and scallop. This is where I remembered to take a photo.

  • Goma steak: AAA Alberta beef grilled to perfection with sesame sauce.

  • I had instead: Teriyaki black cod: BBQ black cod glazed with teriyaki sauce.

  • By now, everybody was getting full, so we skipped: Tempura: Deep fried shrimp and vegetables served with tempura dipping sauce.
  • Sushi: Variety of Mikado's sushi.
  • Dessert: Field berry mousse cake.

For beverages, there was sake, beer, water, and
tea.

Also, somewhere in there, we had something that
I'm not sure what it is. It's somewhat rare, I
gather as he only had enough for our parents and
us. I think it's some form of pickled
moonflower, but really don't know.

Any ideas what this might be?

"Congratulations on your marriage. Please work together so that every day will continue with happiness like this one." Or something like that. Pretty awkward, huh? This is why I get my wife to write my wedding speeches.

What wonderful food!

That's definitely my idea of a wedding banquet. Smile
