Part Three Of Lithos' "Music Of My Yoof" series

I went out with a hippie and now I love everything but

Frenzal Rhomb. One of Aus's greatest punk bands. Actually, about the only one I could care about. Might've posted it before. Ok, not really a filmclip, but a rockin' bunch of piss-taking bastards

Bucket Bong

Never Had So Much Fun

Personal favourite, that one.

Ball Chef.

Nothing's Wrong

Can't seemed to find a decent vid for (Get Fucked You Fucking Fuckwit) You Can't Move Into My House, or Mr. Charisma.

Ok, so I forgot - hopefully Andrew Stafford won't kill me for it.

There is, of course, The Saints, hailing from the wilds of Inala, Brisbane, a place as rough as boarding house toilet paper.

There's a very good case that these guys invented punk, but I suppose, not really, as they didn't call it that at the time. No one knew what the hell to call it. Keep in mind the single "Stranded" came out before The Clash and The Sex Pistols released anything.

After they got signed, the record company set them up with a "stylist" who got them wearing the stereotypical punk gear. Leather jackets, the tight jeans, t-shirts, mohawks et al. They just thought it made them look like wankers.

They did mellow out a bit in the eighties, but it result in another favourite song of mine, Just Like Fire Would.

That song was great. Certainly better than the Sex Pistols and on par with The Clash.

Gillian Welch, David Rawlings, "Time (the Revelator)"
Utterly badass, especially in making an interwar archtop that goddam musical above the neck joint. Epiphones were pretty glorious back then, but still, old boy has hands.
