grain elevator...

okeydoke!

RobW & I in the lift at The Galleries Victoria in town

should be a companion shot to this one also at TGV. we were in the lift for a while, going up and down and then when we finally got out there was a man in a wheelchair waiting for it. oops!

this one's in the lift at the Queen Victoria Building, just across george st. i'm gonna blame the lift's extreme age for the blurriness. back in the day, the lift was horse powered.

Erm, this is the freight elevator I use at work. . .

The mechanism. It's, um, fairly simple. . .

Between floors.

Not much of a ceiling in it. This is shot pointing straight up. Six stories to the roof, the motor room (and it looks like someone left the door open up there.)

Not a lot of traffic in this elevator, so I got one of my autistic employees to stand in it and wave "bye."

Great pic! Where was it taken?

"It may be said with rough accuracy that there are three stages in the life of a strong people. First, it is a small power, and fights small powers. Then it is a great power, and fights great powers. Then it is a great power, and fights small powers, but pretends that they are great powers, in order to rekindle the ashes of its ancient emotion and vanity. After that, the next step is to become a small power itself."

Funny thing is : I intended to grow a real beard, during the trip.
After less than a week, I was so annoyed with all that itchy hair that I had to give up...
