Thanks. It is true I dropped the camera; this is what I thought had affected it and created the weird blurring, but now I am not so sure. I went to take a picture with it and noticed the batteries had died. I use rechargables in it; after I charged them the camera is now taking pictures fine. Perhaps the blurring is a shutter artifact simply caused by insufficient power as the batteries approach their final hours....
