Spiderman: Friend or Foe

Fun game on the Xbox 360. Lots of neat moves and team play, but I found the graphics too small the majority of the time. Safe fun that seamed to appeal to the kids.

On Gamecube :

Mario Tennis and Donkey Kong : Jungle Beat are my favourites.

On PC :

I gave Hellgate : London a quick try this morning. I don't think it's as bad as what people made it sound like.
It looked ok.
I'll play some more...

I played a few games of Civilization IV : Beyond the Sword on my laptop (it runs perfectly) :

The Japanese founded Islam, got in a long and unsuccessful war against Russia; then made peace and played a significant part in maintaining global peace. They were halfway through the building of the spaceship to Alpha Centauri, when the Russians attacked.

I never saw that one coming.
Next time I'll make sure to keep a strong military.

Gamecube? Spent hours playing Dave Mirra (bmx bikes) and Burnout (explody automotive goodness). Still great fun.

But I have spent the last week or so invading China with my army of ninjas:
The Asian Dynasties expansion pack for Age of Empires is out.

best,
Chris H

I gave The Asian Dynasties it a try two weeks ago :
It's fun, but it sufferers from the same shortcomings as all Age of Empires games : it's Warcraft with a different skin Smile

played a bit of SILENT HILL 2 last night. controls are a bit clunky, took some getting used to to start hitting things again. good thing hitting things isn't a huge part of this one....

Is the FILM any good - Silent Hill?

Not seen it as my mates have given it wildly differing reviews, some saying that unless wyou've completed the game there's no way you'll be a ble to follow the storyline.

Silent Hill is best as a film is you haven't played the game. They've changed a load of stuff from the original plot, and for no good reason either. It's not a bad film, but it's a bad Silent Hill film.

I didn't much like it... even as a film on its own it doesn't make much sense. It has some nice visuals, though.

Gaming overload.

Downloaded Crysis last night, so I got that waiting for me when I get home.

While I was downloading that I was playing Gears of War for the PC. Fun game.

And the Jury is still out on CoD4. I played the first 3 maps, but still feel more like I'm playing the arcade game "Time Crisis" than a first person shooter.

I hated the film SILENT HILL the first time. And I've beat all the games. My roomate picked up a copy of the DVD at a local Hollywood Video that was going out of business and so I had occasion to watch it again recently. My opinion changed a bit.

Instead of trying to make a movie based on the plot of the games, they made one that tries to stay true to the spirit of the games. It has fantastic visuals, lots of creepy bits, some gratuitous gore and unlogical plot twists. But that's in accord with the spirit of the game, so it's actually a pretty good adaptation. The ending is a bit weak tho, but in the games you can usually play through a few times and get various endings based on how you do in the game, so automatically the games have a richer storyline. Nothing new there.

The movie does feel at times like you're just watching cut scenes from one of the games. I never felt like the movie plotline had anything to do with the games really. Having completed the game added nothing to the movie plot for me....

Currently switching between Gears of War and The Witcher in the PC. Both games are really good, even though Gears has a couple of annoying glitches in it.

The end times are coming!

Has anyone tried Assassin's Creed yet?
Some of the review are bad, but others are tremendously good.
The one at Penny Arcade really makes me want to try it.

A lot of my mates at work are selling their graphics cards and upgrading RAM/CPU's just to play Crysis - is it really that good, or have people just got too much cash?

Seems like a good time to buy slightly older cards. Saw a pair of gainward Bliss 7900GT cards going for £10 ON E-BAY last night!!

Crysis is a resource whore. I've got a fairly powerful rig and I could only play the demo on medium settings.

The 7900's may or may not be a good buy, I suppose it depends on how long it is before DX9 stops being supported on new PC games.

But even on medium settings the game looks freaking amazing! Jury is still out on gameplay tho, I haven't had much playtime with it yet.

For my money the best single player first person shooter experience so far has been Halflife 2, with Bioshock a close 2nd. Crysis seems like it's got less of a story than those games so far. We'll see if it works out.
