lurk = off

I came across this tonight and immediately thought the description was so WG'esque that I thought to forward him the link. Of course I don't have his email, nor any way to find it, but I'm pretty sure he reads the board, so here goes.

Farq, I so don't need another forum in my life, time-wise... and yet, that's too damn cool to not get into. WGB cell in the making?

addendum

It's basically just social networking, but different because it's DIY social networking by people who actually NEED social networking.

Soooo hardcore: e.g. you can enter your Flickr NSID (ask me how to find it if you can't 'cos I just found out) and your latest Flickr photos will be in your gallery... And they'll generate a code snippet to put on your homepage or blog with your current location. And your profile automatically generates your latitude and longitude wherever you are... And it's all like that.

I'm not so hot on social networking sites myself, but that's because I'm terribly anti-social.

Are there any anti-social networking sites out there? You know, where everyone is a number with the same black silhouette for their picture and absolutely no personal data filled in? I could go for that.

Oh we do love our little lurker (and I'm not sure what's going to tweak HTTF more: the site or the fact that L4H started a thread).

Now, if only their sign in procedure worked. I see some of you have already managed it....

I'm 'self-employed' at the moment so I've just joined up.

Next: WGB armbands and somebody to convince WG that he needs a more vocal personality cult perhaps? Maybe the arm bands could have the order of mean old men heraldry on it?

Just go to your main Flickr page and 'view source' on it. Near the top there's a 'global_nsid: ' thang. You want just the numerical part of what's straight after that.

btw, I'm in as David Geelan, since it's a professional thang. At some point I need an hour or two to enter my publications: pity it's a line-by-line entry thang, it'd be a lot simpler for me just to copy and paste from my CV. But this is something I'll actually use for getting contract work, so it's work crafting the profile a bit.
