Here's one for the "Beam Me Up, Scotty" file.

I have this buddy, post 60 yrs old, travels and camps a lot. Been doing it for decades.
He called yesterday to say he was back from 3 months in Mexico, where he hiked to the bottom of the Copper Canyon. Now you intrepid Googlers will already know that said canyon is rugged, wild, and somewhat remote.

This guy had been living aboard a sailboat for some time, using an onboard computer for e-mails etc. There was a "mutiny" of some sort and the computer was taken in the process.

Thus, by the time he reached the Copper Canyon, he hadn't been online in quite some time.

But behold! He says they trekked into the gorge and found a quaint little joint that he described as a "cyber cafe." It had a big dish mounted on the roof and a computer inside. Apparently the facility was used as some sort of output for school kids to use. In any event, my buddy jacked in and voila! - he was surfing the Web from his perch, deep in the bowels of Mexico.
And it was free!

Who'd a thunk it?
