WHO IS INTERESTED IN MEAT IN DECEMBER?
LONG WEEKEND OR SO IN LYON,
FOR THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS,
ILLUMINATIONS, THAT KIND OF DEAL.

OFFICIALLY THE FESTIVAL STARTS MONDAY 8TH OF DECEMBER,
BUT ITS BECOME A WEEKEND LONG FESTIVAL, MOST OF THE LIGHTS AND PARTIES STARTING ON THE SATURDAY,
SO PROBABLY BEST AIMING FOR BEING THERE AT LEAST SATURDAY 6TH-MONDAY 8TH

WHY START THIS THREAD NOW IN JUNE?
BECAUSE THIS FESTIVAL ATTRACTS A LOT OF PEOPLE.
POPULATION OF LYON ABOUT 1/2 MILLION
LAST YEAR 3-5 MILLION PEOPLE WERE IN LYON FOR THE FESTIVAL

FESTIVAL SITE

LIMULUS WILL BE ALONG TO SUPPLY SOME PICTURES.
AISHA HAS ALREADY EXPRESSED INTEREST,
I'VE EXPRESSED INTEREST (OBVIOUSLY)
AND THE LIMULUS WILL BE THERE AS WELL (OBVIOUSLY)

SO. WHO IS UP FOR IT? MEAT!

Sounds like fun. Presumably Lyon's festival of lights is a bit more upmarket than, say, the Blackpool Illuminations my parents used to take me to when I was a kid?

;-)

best,

Well, to be honest, couldn't care less for the festival (although it seems a bit interesting), but I could do a long weekend in Lyon.

in theory the lights should offer plenty of attraction, plenty to take pictures of and the like. and then of course, the main thing, having folk to hang out with and have a good time Smile
and the more of us, the better

What do you estimate the lascivious, young French women to (male) Wigber ratio will be?

Nothing is more interesting that Blackpool, heretic!

Bet they don't have nylon sheets in the B&Bs in Lyon, do they, huh? Your own static electricity light show every night, for free.

i think if we are organised it will be cool.
but i know what you mean, i'm just trying not to think of that aspect. and i'm spoilt by seeing the city at a quiet time, so thats the picture i have in my head.

i'm sure limulus would be happy to see you visit another time if that ended up suiting better. (he says, putting words in other people's mouths)

Right, people are starting booking hotels for this period, because of the Lights Festival and other events in town (professional shows and exhibitions).
I think booking now would be a smart move if you don't want to pick among the most expensive options.
It's true that it means masses of people but the event usually runs smooth.
A message to the Wanderu: we can still go there at any other time of the year.

Don't hesitate to post about what you found, I should be able to tell you if it looks like a good choice (convenient access etc).
