It's a slippery slope for every submission here -- but some more than others. Like Primer . . . overlooked?

Plus this previous comment,

"Real Genius immediately evokes an entire subgenre of mid 80's movies. Kid geniuses, with enough electronic junk, can do anything. The closest we come today are independent emaciated z-budget self-serious Primers and etc."

UberDog, I can understand your feelings.

For me, the movie typifies Milwaukee, Midwest, working class, "Average Joes", yearning to be worldly and famous. I find "Mike" to be both adorable and unintentionally hilarious.

This one surprised me. It's a fine movie, with excellent and interesting performances.

Another of my favorite films. And my favorite character.... Abner Mercer.

I can only hope to be as good as Geoffrey Lewis in my own film. The guy is a superb craftsman.

The writer and director, Christopher McQuarrie (also The Usual Suspects) is so good though, he actually got a decent performance out of Ryan Phillippe. That's nearly impossible.

Keep in mind, I haven't seen it *since* I was 16 (caught bits and pieces, but never a sustained viewing), so my memory is a bit fuzzy. :/
