Red vehicle for Aisha...

Ice for the Minx:

The was almost no ice at the end of the lake where I launched, but I went around the corner, and wham!

That totally unexpected, unseasonably early sheet of ice was 20mm thick at the edges, and solid for the 700 metres from where I was to those buildings at the far end. Canoes are not efficient icebreakers. Turned the boat around and came home.

MoM, the red canoe shot is beautiful. And what a place to have on your doorstep; you're so lucky!

best,
Chris H

Doorstep? Heh. No. 250km drive. And no road access to the building.

That looks like it should go in the desolate thread. Smile

And that lake picture is so beautiful. Smile

Oh! Oh! Oh!

I am in love.
Paddle-to-the-Sea had nothing on you.

All the provisions tell me (even if I hadn't read the thread backwards) that you are far from civilisaton. Where Canadians and Norwegians like it.

Beautiful MOM!

I like yours, too, Boogerhead.

David, I feel like I am repeating myself, but your pictures are all just lovely.

The perspective here is great and I always like night market shots for some reason. She gives you the human connection to the shot and the other people moving, without their faces visible, actually make her stand out even more.

It's a perfect piece of composition. Look at how Meru's face is automatically the center of attention. That's because of the contrast: whites behind her contrasting with the small darks of her face and hair. Then notice that she's placed very close to perfectly on the left, dividing the picture into 1/3rd and 2/3rd pieces. Also look at how the balancing point of interest, the dark hall's vanishing point with its cluster of light and dark shapes for interest (but with less contrast than the main point of interest) is very close to being on on the other 1/3rd line. The darks and lights balance perfectly so the picture doesn't seem too "heavy" in either direction. Finally, the picture is full of interesting texture, in the packaging, the puddles, the boxes, the signs, and the pipes on the ceiling, to give your eye plenty to wander over after it's finished with the point of interest (which it will return to in good time). It could go in a textbook.

I've been shooting RAW for the last year or so. After fixing the image in the camera, I open it in ps/cs2 and fix the color and exposure before fixing the format. Part of the reason I get the colors I do is that I am sort of colorblind and have been adjusting the colors to match my memory of what the colors were like rather than what ther were actually like.

Or something.

This one.

And, Noirjyre, I'm guessing he

a) Underexposed half a stop.

b) Jacked the satch up in camera.

c) Jacked the satch up in Photoshop.

d) Shot trannies.

Which reminds me, I must finish my roll of Sensia and see how it turns out.
