dunno if it was another thread. We actually had a wake for HST, and convinced glenn to shave his head for authenticity. I regret to inform you that we used a great deal of alchohol to persuade him. Mainly Heath making a bet with drining games to shave his head, and by the time glenn won, he was drunk enough to agree to it anyway.

Maybe I should give it another chance. I've had two lunches there under very terribly bad circumstances. I was so distracted by the utter awfulness of the people I was eating with that I don't think I even tasted the food.
And I couldn't drink while I was there. That was probably part of the problem. Those people were in serious need of some alcohol.
i used to work in the ibm tower across the street. they(rock bottom) have a pool table and good coffee, among some decent american type bar foods. their brews are great, but real hoppy if i remember correctly.
and now that i think of it, the elephant and castle is in the same building.

I have a lot of pictures at clubs where they look good simply because of the colors that are present from the lights and things, but the image itself, the person, form, line, shape, narrative, etc., is not there.
Likewise, I have many photos where the colors don't really matter, they are more like icing, or (to go with a food metaphor) the presentation and garnishment of a fine meal. The actual food itself should be able to stand without the garnish and presentation.
Now, as to Boog's photograph there, I would say that a lot is being said, and to a degree the color may detract from the image itself. Often times by taking an image into B&W, you make a person view the scene in a different state of mind. Thus, they will look at a scene and examine what information comes from the setting, expression, body language etc.
Part of this for me is that I'm kind of anti-photoshopping. I think if he had shot it in black and white, I would probably like it just as well as I did with color, but once you've shot it in color, using photoshop to make it black and white just seems.... I dunno. Like marketing. I have some totally phenomenal photos that have been the result of me and a camera and photoshop, but I don't consider myself a photographer. I just like to take photos and fuck with them to make them look cool. I can understand photoshopping semi-nude photos of people, that's sort of a different matter, but a real untouched nude is - to me - much much sexier than a photoshopped one, because it's a window into a moment, and any retouching is the artist interfering with the moment. I'm not particularly interested in the artist's input, only his perception (note that this idea is changed considerably when there is no model for the artist, and the art comes directly out of the mind). This may be partly because I care for very few artists, though I like quite a bit of art. I think I went off on a similar concept about poets. Can't stand poets. Brooding little bastards.
To the poetry-writing/artist WGBers, feel free to ignore me, I'm pmsing. Besides which, I'm kind of a hateful person.

Oh good. I was a little self-conscious about that post, because it's totally coming from a place of intolerance and bitchiness, but oh well. I have strong opinions and I'm a minimalist.
