Yeah, I learned that one too. After living aboard one for a while, it got to be pretty easy.

Ironically, I saw the same show. It would be funny if you were there at the same time and we passed by each other.

The Bic Natural Surf 7'4 is considered the best starter board on the market. Plenty of bouyancy, srong enough to take the knocks but not too big to handle. Sweet shot. I used to have a 10ft noserider that I called Pammy; plastic fantastic.

Thank you. The flower pic is very nice too, although it doesn't hold a candle to your fair beauty.

Saturday, grom contest

at the beach

Grinding music, lots of youths, nada waves but a well wicked vibe and the sun on my back. Unfortunately I have many more to bore you with.

Sunshine! Yay!

The funny thing is, I had no idea that Bic even made surfboards until I moved to Europe. I surfed a 7'9" standard glassed funboard back in the day. On this recent trip, I didn't surf that board that I am holding in the photo, but an 8'4" Bic because the waves were really small (but fun) the first day there. It was bloody heavy, I tell you.

I am SOO JONESING FOR MORE SURF NOW.

Thanks for the compliment, bic!

Hi Sym, your pic brightened up my day. I'm also craving surf - it's been flat for 10 days now. All the guys are getting tetchy; we'll be in by Thursday, whatever the conditions throw up.

I rode a Bic 8'4 Magnum for 18 months. It's a great board and took me from 6" mackerel farts to head high face but like you say, it's a heavy beast. Took my worst wipeout to-date on it (fingers crossed): took off on an innocuous looking 3ft wedge that reared into a freight training head high righthander. I was stoked, body rigid with adrenaline as the water sucked up the face just an inch or two in front of my nose. Needless to say, the lack of turning/rails on the Bic had me barrel into a closeout that took me under and through the washing machine cycle a few times. I rose, gasping for air, faintly aware that I felt somewhat colder. It was a winters day with no-one else about so only 30 mins later did I realise that the fins had cut through the back of my wettie and my shoulder. Still bare the scar today, some yeras later, but boy, was that wave worth it :-) Well worth it.

I took this photo in Paris while waiting to meet up with Louis (and others) for lunch. The guy by the metro entrance was really freaking me out, but then Louis explained why he was dressed the way he was.

My memory card with my photos from the London and Paris meats had disappeared for a few months, but just turned up while I was cleaning up my desk.

Great shot. Dammit, every time I see you Euros (the people, not the wallabies) jet-setting around your non-culturally contiguous continent, I think of this.

Thanks, Lithos. I discovered the black/white and sepia settings on my camera while waiting there.

FP - I really like that shot. Sepia is a lovely effect.

ArkanGL - beautiful houses. Can I ask if you auto-fixed this one (the light under the arches)?

I like it and wondered it it was a natural illumination. I've decided not to fix any of my shots for the next few weeks, in order to establish just how realistic the shots from my new camera turn out.
