You don't know Frank Herbert's "Dune", green-robot? It's an amazing novel series and also a movie. BTW the best-selling Science Fiction novel ever.

yeah, no, i have heard of Dune but never read it/seen it.
maybe i'll go looking... i don't usually like space sci-fi though, with the exception of 2001: A Space Odyssey (book, not film).

I dislike space sci-fi either because it's so trivial. But "Dune" is an exception. It doesn't deal with space issues, but rather with religion, philosophy and mysticism. And you will like the main character Paul Atreides.
