I've been thinking...have we just seen the tip of the iceberg???

Now that Terrorism has been exported from the middle east to the USA how long before some of our more violent domestic groups begin to incorporate Terror into their arsenal of political attacks?

How long before the KKK blows up Grand Central Station?

How long before the Michigan Militia nukes the Oscars?

How long before Faracon's 'Nation of Islam' poisons the water supply in San Francisco???

And will new militant factions of already preexisting peaceful political groups spring up? Will we see the rise of those who would protect the environment and it's indigenous lifeforms 'at all costs'?

In short, are we just seeing the beginning of Terrorism on our historically war-filled continent???

And how, exactly, is your average idiot American going to cope with that?

Israel has the equivalent (per capita) or a 9/11 sized attack every 6 weeks. If the unequipped American populous were exposed to a similar reality how would they cope? Would the Federal Government even put up a pretense of fighting Terror at that point? Could the Federal Government even maintain it's existence faced with such a threat? Would we degrade to Statehood, each State becoming it's own unique country with it's own unique belief systems and problems?

Would there be all black States? All Hispanic? Would there be all white-supremicist States? Would Microsoft buy Washington State? Would LA change in the least?

Would some States legalize pot, prostitution, and gambling?

Would some States become all Catholic? All Islamic? All Buddhist?

In short is 50 different countries enough for the myriad of diversity that threatens to break up the once united and strong American union that pretentiously claimed to be a mythical 'melting pot'?

And do any of these possibilities threaten me in the least as a Libertarian Israeli citizen who is completely used to Terrorism, tiny countries, and corrupt governments?

I guess some of us are more prepared for the future than others.

Ah yes, the persistent myth that Americans have not been the victims of terrorism in the past. What do you call the klan? Skinheads? All the various groups that robbed banks and blew shit up in the '70's? The militias and their proud child McVeigh?

Domestic terrorists have lynched more people in the U.S. than were ever killed in Europe by left wing terrs or ethnic separatists. I think to match levels of terrorism violence with 19th and 20th century America, the developed world would have to go back to the Inquisition, or to the state-sponsored terrorism of fascist states. Though perhaps the long-running anti-Jewish terrorism in Europe would match us body for body. Of course the state-sponsored terrorism of the Nazis, Italian fascists, Iron Guard and Horthyists easily blows away non-state-sponsored terrorism.

Skinheads still stomp people to death in the U.S. on a regular basis. It just doesn't make the news. Klan-affiliated groups used to lynch blacks on a weekly basis at community social gatherings in the midwest and throughout the South. People posed with the corpses for pictures and even took home body parts with them as souvenirs. That was terrorism used to cow the black population.

American law enforcement will continue to deal with domestic terrs in the same way they always have. By getting lax, letting them get out of control, then clamping down on them and knocking the shit out of them for a few years, then getting lax, etc., ad nauseam.

I spelled it with a capital 'T' and copared it to what Israel tolerates.

BTW, I was about 5 miles from the bomb when it went off in OKC, so I have an idea about the terror that has gone on in the States.

See my reference to the KKK.

Remember I'm talking about 'Terrorism', not 'terrorism'.

Oh, I'm sure you'll notice when all the money and technology the United States exports to your nation starts to dry up. F-15s and Cobra gunships don't grow on trees, ya know. Have fun, and remember to play nice with all those friendly neighbors of yours.

No nation is an island anymore, and global change effects us all.

Ho hum. Here I go taking the bait.

Domestic terrs in the U.S., with the exception of ELF, exhibit terrible tradecraft. They're stupid, they're under-educated, and they're very disorganized. They're easy to penetrate, and because they are almost always criminals (and proud of it), they're easy to pack into jails for lesser offenses before they ever even blow anything up.

Which is not to say that the Klan will never blow up Grand Central. But if they did, they wouldn't be able to follow up with any serious action for at least another, say, 72 years or so. American domestic terrs are just too uncoordinated to pull off multiple large operations without getting caught. They're cavemen.

Look at McVeigh: The dipshit was in jail on an unrelated offense before the fire was even extinguished at Murrah.

With the exception of ELF, domestic terrs in the USA will continue on their current trajectory: long cycles of relative inactivity, committing a steady, slow stream of single or double homicides, followed by an up-cycle characterized by accelerated homicides and the occasional big shootout or bombing, followed by another long cycle of relative inactivity. And by occasional, I mean not very often at all.

ELF is the only group that shows both serious tradecraft and serious destructive capacity. But to this date, they've never killed a single person. They limit themselves to property damage. That may change, but due to their lack of charismatic leadership, centralization and isolation, I doubt that any such shift toward murder would catch on at a national level. They're an arson club. Highly destructive in the monetary sense, but nothing that's going to provoke your rather silly, made-for-TV-style doomsday scenarios.

And regarding the Nation of Islam: they're more likely to be implicated in a fraud or embezzlement scheme than they are to be implicated in terrorism. They're mainstream now. There are other domestic black Muslim groups in the U.S., but they face their own very serious obstacles preventing them from being widely effective. Mainly that they have so much in common with the white varieties of American domestic terrs.

I've had my differences with SC, but the man knows his shit. The only quibble I'd have is that we're all talking about "the situation" as it is now, and I think that assuming "the situation" remains static (or, to follow SC's analysis, in homeostatis) is a bad bet.

Just my rupee .50

Oh, I wasn't responding to you, RUR. That said, I also find it rather disingeneous to hold the state of Israel up as a beacon of morality.

But that's often a dangerous tack to take; it slips way too easily into antisemitism.

More like Anti Zionist.
I've seen plenty of Jewish people protesting against the zionist
policies of the state of Israel. I doubt they are anti semitic.

Just like I'm Anti-Neo Con but not anti American.

"HOW CAN I BE ANTI-SEMITIC?! I AM A SEMITE!!!!!"

Goddam sonuvabitch. Son of a bitch. The board just ate a huge, massive reply I'd written, agreeing with digi and expanding upon the point.

Fuckit. It's lost to the ether.

Damn you people are ignorant.

I was implying that Israel has a curropt government, I can't even figure out how you read that post any other way.

For the record I'm living in Florida now, btw, which nullifies some other comment.

I NEVER said that Israel was a moral country.

I NEVER said that israel wouldn't suffer from loss of American funds or even implies anything remotely concerning the topic of American afairs in the middle east.

In fact NOTHING in the post was to do with the middle east situation. It was COMPLETELY about the American situation.

The first reply was the only one worth reading, honestly.

And WHAT THE FUCK was with saying that the Palestinians were there first? Have you ever read about the science of archeology dipshit? That is our ancient temple underneeth their mosk that you always see as their claim to fame on the TV. For the record there has been a consistent Jewish presence in the land of Israel in the city of Hebron since the 13th century AD.

Not that ANY of that was relevent to my original post.

Hey, listen, chump. You got a free fucking country after WWII.

Didn't see any of my ancestors bitching for some new turf after the Japanese fucked up China now, did you? Nooooooope.

I'll agree with you on the corrupt part, though. Personally, a government that pumps cement into peoples houses and then wonders why a market explodes needs its head checked.

Er, would that be the same Mosque the IDF played black noise at 120dB during one of Islam's holidays?
