I bought a digital camera and took pictures of my trip to Desoto Falls and a few restrooms. Whwn I got home I downloaded the camera software and plugged the camera in to the usb port and my computer dosent recognise that there is a camera hooked into it. I tried all 4 of the usb ports and still my computer remains ignorant of the connection. What to do?

If you're using windows XP:
Uninstall all camera related drivers (using "software" in the configuration screen. Reboot the computer, plug camera into USB, hear windows make some funny noises, display some cute little info balloons, and let it sort out all of the drivers for you. When done navigate to My computer and find the new drive listed. You should then be able to get all your pictures from there.

windows media center ... that might be your problem right there. You don't need any tools like that to complicate the matter, a camera connected to a computer basicly serves as an external disk which you just need to copy your images from.

I don't know how to do that.

I think you need a webside or online picture account to host your pictures and then link them to the wgb.

no, you can upload directly. i guess your pics are just too big. resize em.

this might not be the easiest way but:

make a post, add the pic as an attachment. post the post. click on the attachment that appears at the bottom of your new post. that'll take you too another page where you pic is displayed (i think). copy the url at the top of that page, return to your post, edit your post, add an image to your post using the url you copied as the location. repost. your pic should be displayed.

...

i usually size my images on my computer, save em in a folder i made just for images to upload to wgb (or myspace, or internet, whatever) then go to ImageShack and upload them. once you upload an image on IS it displays a page with numerous types of HTML codes, halfway down is the best kind for this board. you just cut or copy the code and paste it into your WGB post...

i resize mine on my computer and then upload em to a wgb photo album, then copy the properties of the full size image to post in other threads.

i have a question: when we're travelling, what the heck do i do with all our photos? am i going to have to go to a photo shop and get them to put things on CD or something? there's no way the memory chip we have will see us through 6 weeks.

Or buy more cards as you go or before you go... they are practically cheap enough to be the prize in a box of cereal these days. dealram.com shows 1gb SD cards to be as low as $25; $35-40 for a semi-reputable brand name card. (BTW, a 1gb card holds something like 400 photos on my 5MPix camera.)
