I'm sure this is non-informed, but is there a messenger program that allows you to cross-messenger?

Between ICQ, AIM and Yahoo!?

Trillian used to be the stock answer. Not sure if there's a newer/better one.

My usb ports are not working-
I've checked my hardware manager, it says everything is okay-
I think that might have been what was up with my scanner unit- It just stopped working one day- Now I can't upload pictures from my card reader-

I assume you tried rebooting your machine. At times USBs become unstable. What OS are you using?

device problem troubleshooting:

windows - REBOOT

device still not working? right click My Computer icon, select Properties from bottom of the list

click the Hardware tab

select Device Manager

expand the Universal Serial Bus Controllers at the bottom of the hardware list

you will see a bunch of stuff in there, more or less depending on how many USB ports you have installed

select them in all in sequence, and for each one rightclick it, select Properties from the bottom of the list and click the big gray Troubleshooting button

claw your own eyes out at the twisted suggestions of the MicroDrone wizard.....

kinda weird question:

Would having my TabletPC plugged into my Powerbook over ethernet mess up it's wifi card's ability in XP to access the internet?

This seems to be the case, ie, if the ethernet is plugged in, I have trouble accessing the internet on the TabletPC. Normally it accesses the internet over wireless. I have the ethernet hooked up so when I switch to OSX I can access the Drop Box on the Powerbook to add applications and stuff because the wireless card will not currently work in OSX, and I can't easily hook it up to my router since all that stuff is in my roomate's bedroom (bastards).

If I reboot into XP while the ethernet is still plugged in, I have many woes trying to access the web. Then it occurred to me that the wifi and ethernet may be confusing Windows as to which IP range has the internet....

Can anyone confirm or deny my reasoning?

Is there a standard program one uses to uplaod photos from a phone?

I have no idea how that workd.

I Googled it and kept getting links to Flickr that didn't explain it to me.

You can bluetooth them to a PC

You can download with a USB cable

You can email them to facebook or flickr if you're set up for that (I haven't managed as I can't get my email settings right)

ETA: Program...like software? your phone may come with one (e.g., Nokia PC Suite). Your PC will have MS photo manager if you have Office. Not sure what other programs for management.

Sorry if I'm being dense.

i would say no to a standard program since most phones themselves are not standardized. since they all have different protocols and OSes they would each require a unique solution.

best to look up your model and see what other users are using for their uploads....

More to the point, it is going to come down to whether your service provider is a cheap bastard and locked off BT file access so that you would have to spend money with them to transfer the photos across their network and then onto your computer via web browser.

For example, the Razr phone is capable of BT file transfer, but on Verizon's Razr's they locked out BT while on T-Mobile they didn't. (Not that Razr pics are worth keeping, of course...)

I have AT&T service.

I'll see what it says there.

Thanks,

I'll likely be back confused.
