this machine can also run windows, in fact, it can only access the internet from windows which makes windows or liveCd/liveUSb solutions preferable to Apple specific ones. not that Apple-based solutions should be avoided.....

i think i might take a look at the disc with partition magic; i believe that was how it was partitioned originally, albeit an older version....

Data Rescue works well but takes forever. Also I do not have nearly enough free space to recover the files it finds (if I tried to recover everything, because it won't tell you the actual names of the files, just the type and size, so I can't just selectively choose the few things I want).

I may just erase the whole thing and move on with my life....

23hq.com has fixed my 'strange' account, where I was allowed to upload 300 pictures per month instead of 30.

I need more space.

- Should I buy an unlimited account?

- Is Flickr the best option?

- Since Flickr Pro accounts are unlimited, does that mean I can share my account with other people?

Edit :
On second thought, Google's PicasaWeb seems interesting.
Any comments?

Yes!! But, I do love flickr, so I might be biased!

Yes, as long as you are happy sharing the username and password.

The only drawback is you have to sign up for yahoo.. not direct with flickr anymore

EDIT: A few friends use Picassa and like it. For me, the actual application killed the memory on my laptop, and couldn't handle the photos being stored on a networkd drive.

But flickr's appeal doesn't just end with somewhere to store photos.. the groups, the look, and the fact that everyone uses it..

i use photobucket, the free version. My needs are not quite extensive as yours. Not sure how their pay service is.

I use the pay photobucket, it works great for me because they don't limit bandwidth, so you can link your stuff to messageboards or wherever and you don't risk getting those "bandwidth exceeded" messages. They also up your limit to 2 MB per photo I think it is; you can set a smaller limit if you prefer and it will automatically change it. They also have 6 or 8 preset sizes if you want to reduce to fit a particular venue (e.g., WGB doesn't automatically resize like Invision boards, so I usually resize to the 480 x 600 size or whatever it is so it doesn't explode the thread). They have also implemented variable private/public albums, so you don't have to have all of your albums one or the other if you don't care to. That was a long time coming.

Fuck Flickr.

You heard me.

There's also the Virgin Mobile Flickr Fiasco.

I like Photobucket - it's yet to do me wrong. It's what I use for all the photos I post. The size limit's not a probably, as I keep my shots to 800 pixels on the longest side, and less than 200kb.

I use the free account.

You also don't get random cocks constantly commenting about the bokeh in your photos all the time.

Nothing, except that its popularity has garnered attention from dubious corporate entities.

Testing photobucket...

I like the one-click-link feature.

I'll switch to this, and see if it fits my need.

But I wonder if moving all my pictures to a single account wouldn't be more convenient.

And I do kind of like flickr's community aspect.

Edit :
Photobucket's unability to provide resized images is a bit annoying.
And it does seem slow, but maybe that's just my internet connection...

Flickr gives you lots of direct link thingies.. in 4 / 5 different sizes. And also HTML script to post a clicky one (though not BB script which is tres frustrating for here!).

One problem alot of my friends using photobucket have found - once they reach their bandwidth limit, they can no longer post their photos anywhere for the rest of the month.

Oh, forgot the new stats feature on flickr which has Krad addicted.. shows you most viewed images for each day, and for monthly / yearly / in total. Same for referrers, and search terms. Really very cool.

Looking at how slowly the image in my previous post is loading, I am deciding against Photobucket.

I had lunch with my brother, and mentioned in passing :
"If I get a flickr Pro account and yuo give me €1, I'll let you have your own album in there."
He automatically reached for his wallet.

Flickr it is, then!

It's done.
I got a Flickr Pro account (that is, once they accept my payment).

Lithos is going to hate me.

Photobucket's BB code is clicky...

And, no, Ark, I don't hate you. Your punishment shall be endless comments from retards along the line of "OMG - bokeh!" "Kawwwaaaai!" and, ever the classic "hey u should chek out my foto i just gor a nu cel w/ a camra in it and its wikkid cool 4 fotos lolz."

Strangely, in the 3 years I have been using flickr, I have ~never~ got a comment like that. Each and every comment I have received has been cool, and welcome.. Plus, I have made friends from people who comment.

That tool seems pretty damn useful.

I'll be trying it soon.

I don't understand why you couldn't get the photos to resize?

This is the screen I get:
