Do you mean individual files from a torrent that contains a set of files? In Azereus you can select which files from the torrent you want to download when you add the torrent to your queue. It's just a matter of turning off the check marks next to the names of the files you don't need.

My friend said something like this, but when I have something downloading in Azureus I don't see individual files within a set, I just see the set.

So, if I was downloading a series of books, I'd only see the macrofile, not the individual books.

I do not know where he's seeing this on the Azureus dashboard.

Wait till I get home, where I certainly do not have Azureus installed, and even if I did, it would be downloading perfectly legitimate material, and I'll try to give you more details.

Note, I'm using the old version, auto-updated, instead of that new Vuze download. On Vuze you can still get the old UI through the "Advanced" tab (all the way over on the right).

If you're currently downloading the torrent, I believe you can right click on the torrent and select "view details" (or something like that). Then click on the "files" tab in that view. There should be a list of files in the torrent. Right click on the ones you don't need and select "priority", then "don't download". The names of the options might be a little different on your version.

When you first open a torrent to add it, a dialog box appears where you can set where the files will be saved (possibly this doesn't happen in Vuze). In the bottom of that dialog box is a list of the files in the torrent, and there are check boxes next to each file which you can turn off to avoid downloading the file.

more of a general question: whenever i search for jobs on monster, the resulting links are always purple as though I already clicked on them, rather than the blue of a normal unclicked link. why?

The site designer may have decided to use a different set of styles in monster's CSS stylesheet.

In CSS, you use the following "pseudo-selectors":

a:link
a:visited
a:active
a:hover

and you can assign any color (and many other values) to any of those selectors to govern how links in a web page look.

I remember doing the same and getting to similar levels of incandescent... mild pique with how hard it was to fix such a simple thing. Sadly not in front of a Windoze box at the moment to try to remember the solution - if no-one else has done so by this evening I'll give it a shot then.

You mean the taskbar in Windows?

Right click on the task bar (some part where there are no buttons right now). In the menu, make sure "Lock the taskbar" is not checked. Using the left mouse button, drag the taskbar near the bottom or top of the screen, as you prefer. Once placed appropriately, maybe right click again and turn back on "lock the taskbar".

If this does not work, we may need to ponder this further...

I am trying to use aemon Tools to emulate the CD Rom drive to run a game but I cannot get it to work.

It keeps telling me to install the disk even though I have the Play CD mounted in the virtual drive.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

some games will refuse to work with copied CD-roms (or ISO files) and still need to have a kind of no-cd crack or whatever applied to them in order to run.

Does anyone know how to get around a client not supporting TTH on a DC++ download?

Is there another program I can connect to this client with?

Could someone please run me through the process of setting up a passowrd-locked Administrator's account on a Windows XP machine? I found out that roommate used my computer this morning, and besides being fucking pissed, I want to keep him out completely.

Start->Settings->Contol Panel->User Accounts->Add->Other->Administrators

You'll get the idea. You might just want to place a password on the existing account. If its the only one on the machine, its the default Administrator.
