Dude, they're made for photographers.

Explains the price, at least.

I think your guess is wrong. In my experience non designers think typefaces are free and if they aren't, they should be. I know VERY few people who have ever personally paid their own money to buy a font. And even they have one or two on their systems they 'acquired' from somewhere. I know I do. And i'd bet cash money you do too.

Heh, true, most non-designers don't think fonts are worth anything. So if they have the opportunity to "acquire" one, I guess they will.

On the other hand, I, personally, haven't acquired any fonts, that I know of. Only those which came with the machine and Photoshop Elements. Which explains the paltry selection I have.

And once, many years ago, I actually paid for a collection of fonts on CD. Of course, maybe they were pirated...

No. I found f8, ran it in various modes, and the problem it appears is perfmonss.exe. I can delete some but not all, the application remains, and I am locked out. It apprears to reboot up as I reboot. I am hauling the hardrive to a savvy pal, on Sunday, while he hunts info, and researches new computers.

Any suggestions? I'd like to scan photos, watch videos, manipulate images, write a rant, listen to radio...read/watch other peoples offerings. Do I need some Dell, or lessor Apple offering?

Anabel, just buy a second hand iMac G4! They are so cheap now and they will do everything you need without having to add on extra drives, readers, etc. And you won't have continual tech support issues. Really.

Went into safe mode, managed to not freeze in startup list, went into and deleted both ss programs, rebooted in debug, downloaded 7 updates, which I'd not been allowed, rebooted in debug, checked to see if the ss' showed up. Not yet. Whew! For the moment

Sentinel, thanks...researching.

A short google suggested that perfmonss.exe is a trojan or a backdoor (i.e. bad news software, like a virus). You might want to get that hard drive scanned and cleaned by your friend, and check the settings on your anti-virus software.

I got a major virus infection last week.

Guest starring :

monderc
vundo.gen
crypt.pack.gen

Antivir found the virus but could not delete any of it.
I installed a crapload of other antispyware, antivirus, anti-hijack...

It's slowly recovering.

When you go cruzing for warez on those Russian pr0n sites use a locked-down VM.Wink

When you find what you want run it through the wringer, store it off-line, then burn your VM.

I've been working through VMs now for awhile. On the first sign of trouble, I delete them and take a fresh one off the shelf. Since I've started doing this, nothing has gotten through to my host.

The weak part of this system is the movement of data and applications from the VM to the host. Maintaining isolation is sometimes painful.

I've been quite safe for the past few years.

It's just that this one time, I ran a keygen without first scanning it...

Running the keygen inside the VM, it would have 'taken the bullet for you'.

If anything, getting into VMs is a worthy excuse for buying a quad-core and 8GB of RAM. Smile

this computer has Mac OSX 10.4.11 installed and fully updated. This is the latest edition that this computer can support. The user accounts are cleared and the system is clean, ready to be used by anyone!

The standard internal CD-ROM drive for this model has been replaced with an Apple DVD-ROM drive, which works very well. This computer, despite its age, plays DVD movies flawlessly with the included Apple program, and can read most data DVDs without any issue.

This computer would be great for someone who needs a basic computer for browsing the web, checking email, instant messaging, listening to music, storing digital images, etc. You'll be amazed at how fast it is considering it's over 5 years old. As mentioned in the description above, this iMac has a few great programs you'd normally have to pay quite a lot of money for. Everything works well and Mac OSX is a breeze to use, even for the computer-challenged or those new to Macs. Just plug in the computer, plug in the mouse and keyboard, and you're good to go! Call 710-7999 Rudy

Can anybody decipher that? Howz that sound?
