I have seen many people dual, triple, quad boot. Vista and XP is possible, but I cannot remember which one needs to be done first. IIRC the main thing is to create your partitions and install XP onto the first partition.... google:"XP Vista dual boot guide" lots of linux users triple boot, so maybe search for guides for that as it will first detail how to install XP and Vista....
SQL/Vista, google:"mySQL Vista cannot connect internet after install" maybe? ED's problem: trying to learn some Flash AS game programming. When I try and save, the popup window for choosing where to save is unviewable.... Where did it go? I had the laptop in extended desktop mode earlier, but switched back to notebook only. This is happening here in the coffeeshop, any thoughts? *************************************************** * MEB_Registered: 20122002 |

Can you switch res with the save dialog showing? Maybe it will realize it's offscreen then... Have you done the Kongregate Shootorial yet, ED? I've been meaning to do part 8 but all the house shenanigans sucked up my spare energy. |

Well I figured right, it was showing the dialog box off on the other monitor. Did not try switching resolutions, maybe next time since I'm home now and have extended desktop back on again. What would be nice is to know if there's some key combo to have the current active window redrawn to whichever monitor your mouse is active at, or something to that affect....
Do not think I have tried that tutorial yet. Currently doing the vertical shooter one at http://www.mrsunstudios.com, after trying the Blockout clone one. This one is going fairly well, although I am still not clear on certain aspects of how the stage and things set up on it interact with the frames when adding new ones.... *************************************************** * MEB_Registered: 20122002 |

Yah, the Kongregate Shootorial is a bit more complex than that (plus fairly nifty grafix). By the end they have you doing mini-bosses and big-bosses and in 8 I think they show you how to hook up to the Kongregate API.
No idea about secret keys to get the dialogs back. Usually if you reset the screen rez on a Mac anything that has crept off the edges will show up again. |

I can't seem to connect to the WGB on my desktop for some reason. It was working fine then one day I tried and I got the error
"Error This domain name (www.williamgibsonboard.com) has not been set up on our server. We are unable to process your request. Powered by: Groupee TM (version 1.3.0) from Groupee Inc" But I enter the exact same website (www.williamgibsonboard.com/eve) on my laptop and it works fine. |

Sounds like some weird caching issue to me. In FF, try emptying your cache completely and see if that helps?
Or maybe Groupee moved machines and your desktop one is still locked on the old IP and not refreshing it? Try 'traceroute williamgibsonboard.com' on both machines and see what comes back. All just guesses, mind you... EDIT: Bah! Traceroute doesn't get you all the way through. Download dig for Windows maybe and try digging the WGB? I get 63.251.8.241. |

Why the devil is my iphone suddenly not rendering style sheets? It's a google problem; it only happens when I click through a RSS feed to a live site. But - it didn't used to happen (and this is pre last weeks update).

TM, you're having the same problem I had. What finally seemed to cure it was to reverse the fix That Newro posted on the Gaiman board late last year. I ran through the filepath he showed and deleted the last two lines that his fix required. I did a search on the Gaiman board and found his fix it post on the WGB Refugee thread. If you can't find it, let me know, I think I bookmarked it.

My computer is an HP that came in one of those "pc + monitor in one package" deals. It's a couple years old, and the monitor has integrated speakers. There's a little cable from the monitor that plugs into the speaker port on the back of the tower.
Recently I upgraded, and put in a video card. (Previously I had on-board video.) Card works fine, for the most part.... except that the integrated speakers no longer work. I like listening to music, so this is a problem. Anyone have any suggestions for possible fixes? Or even what the heck the problem might be? I don't see why plugging the monitor into the video card instead of the monitor port on the back of the tower would cause the speakers to stop working.... and frankly, I'd rather be listening to music than have everything on permanent mute. I've already tried using headphones, with no luck. Also, going to Control Panel --> Sounds and Audio Devices, I see that I apparently have no playback device. ---------------------------------- This area is no longer a viable place for signatures. We apologize for the inconvenience. |

Possible that installing the vid card drivers you turned off the integrated video on the motherboard and inadvertently turned off the integrated audio too? You could try updating the motherboard drivers. Of course, the simple but costly situation is to add a sound card.

simple USb audio adapter or new sound card if you can't re-enable the drivers.... search google for your PC model number and find out what chipset drives the video and audio and if this is fixable....
search HP tech support for solutions to this probably common problem.... *************************************************** * MEB_Registered: 20122002 |

So, Onii, gonna post a conclusion to your problem?
Can I make that a general call? Whenever possible, if you post a query here and a solution is found, come back and post the solution? It adds to the repertoire of those of us who try to help people with problems... ________________________ differently mediated |
