Lunch:

Passion Fruit & Mango Juice Squeeze
Grilled ham & cheese sandwich
Cooler Ranch chips w/ ranch to dip them in

And a very large piece of heavy chocolate cake that the cafeteria ladies gave me in a futile but cute effort to fatten me up. I don't normally eat ham, haven't had any for the better part of a year, but thought I might as well so I could post it here. Plus, I was craving salty.

By the way, I feel like this thread is sort of the icing on the cake of intimacy around here. What's the time, how's the weather, what movies have you seen lately, what are you reading, what's in your bag, what kind of bag is it, what's your sex life like and what are you cooking and eating.

I should totally post a thread where people can notify the WGB that they're going to take a piss or have a bowel movement. I could see it really bringing together the women. And everyone would know when our cycles were and back off accordingly.

[this is more sarcastic than you can possibly imagine]

Thank you FP for your honest as you put it "cheesy reply." Parents and children will almost always or often have conflict and your paragraph of advice, while wise, is more difficult to practice than preach.

My parents and I are mending fences now. The real problem regarding this last confict began when they came to visit me in India after I had been there for close to a year (mostly solo). They slept in the "Taj Ganges Hotel" in Varanasi, while I stayed in my hostel along the Ganges for 40 rupees a night. After me being their "tour guide" for little over 2 days, I vowed I'd never do it again. I made the mistake of thinking that they/me/we had changed/evolved emotionally since then. It hasn't, so really this last conflict is my error of judgement.

You know the Hindu's believe that children choose their parents (not the western reverse) based on past karma. One can never repay their parents and I have no intention of trying. My love for them is unconditional despite all of our "issues." However, unless things radically change I seriously doubt that I will ever be "emotionally close" to my father...my mother and I on the other hand are a different, happier story.

Well, I've finished now. But it was home-made burgers with fries cooked in goose-fat. I know this is for not-homemade-food, but there are cockroaches at our local MacD, and I can't take it.

Daughter#1 wanted burgers, since she is sick of holiday treats
Daughter#2 wanted a total reenactment of Christmas, at hi-speed

so we bought tiny gifts and beef and ketchup. And made a new alternative hi-speed kiddie-xmas with burgers.

And in 10 years they both will be angry young things. sigh.

All you can say is WHAT happened. You do not know why. You will never know why.

Is there anything more delicious than leftover duck? Quack! Quack!

Ham is now over. Next: mass quantities of smoked salmon that Mom forgot to serve at the festivities.

I'm sitting up in bed with the lappie, getting posty and watching Buffy Season Five DVDs. Suzie brought me a little tray with prawns and dipping sauce, and guacamole chips and salsa, and is right now getting some dried mango for me. The kids are in the middle of building a gingerbread house, so I imagine I'll be eating some of that at some point. And there's some leftover smoked salmon in our fridge too.

Thing is, we're getting up late, so we're eating well but just 1-2 light meals a day, so we won't end up porking up over the holidays... theoretically.

I'm weeping at how much love there is in the Bravus household. SHE BRINGS YOU PRAWNS.

I'm going to go get some V8 now.

You damn lucky man, better show some appreciation to her later.

I'm so envious of Bravus, I'm just going to eat my reheated
lasagna and weep.

(no ham, duck, or prawns in the lasagna)

Later:
I bought at the local Safeway, 2 Amy's Tofu Vegetable Lasagnas. I've eaten the non-tofu version and it was delicious. I'll report how these are later.
