You could always go with the venerable: "If God didn't intend us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?" I love that one.

Yesterday, for my wife's birthday (a good, experimental restaurant):

lightly baked duck liver, almost raw, on toast.

Blood sausage lasagna. Truly amazing how good it was.

Veal sweetbread in reduced red wine sauce, with a whole rice risotto milanese (with saffron).

A dark chocolate pyramid over confited orange.

Today, pub fare, cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, emmental mix) smothered fries, with mayonnaise, tartar and bearnaise sauces. And then a baguette with bacon, more cheddar, fresh tomato and two fried eggs.

And two pints of Guinness. Not enough to visit the drunk thread, but good enough not to feel the cold winds.

I don't want to panic you charma, but I eat a lot of meat too. I eat the things I eat because I like the way they taste. That includes vegetarian food. So, you know, sod off.

agreed. faced food, though tasty, does not replace the fabulous wet tp sensation of tofu.

stir fried or soup-ed, tofu has it's merit.

This tofu/meat thing is evolving into yet another ketchup/mayo situation. Since I never can let a good fight alone I have to say: tofu is horrible except in small pieces in miso-soup.
Tofu lasagna sounds so west-coast-hippy-sickening (in Europe: German activist squatter sickening) I might become a far right propagandist from eating it. So I won't.
And I love bean salads.

It's not a big deal to not eat certain foods. I have yet to encounter a dish with geoduck that I like. I'm certainly open to continue to try geoduck, but it's a hard sell for me.

Hmmm. A "what are you not eating" thread?

i disagree. nearly anything fried is somewhat edible, or at least improved.

Thanks for introducing me to the geoduck. What a kind of strange thing is that?

Do we need a new thread for things we won't eat? I'm sure the Hydra won't mind a bit of thread-jacking.

Personally, I will not begin to eat insects or snakes, unless it's an emergency. I don't feel comfortable about eating cats and dogs either. Not because of their pet-status, but because of their eating habits.
I can't think of any vegetables I won't eat.

Geoduck. An enormous, ancient clam-thing. Sometimes comes in the "special" combo sushi. Kind of crispy. I have no idea how else people eat it.

I also don't much like organ meats.
