Thanks for the advice-
I will keep my leg elevated- I even have it sitting very high on my comp desk right now- I look silly but, at least I am not in front of the tv, pondering all the stupid stuff they put on the thing these days-

Yesterday,I got the real cast put on- They left me in the waiting room for about an hour and then down to x-rays, then back up to the casting room- This all took about another 45 mins before they even looked at my leg- And then they scolded me about not keeping my leg elevated-

I'm wondering if they realized it only takes about 30 mins before my foot begins to swell- I'm going back friday so they can figure out if gravity will do the job the surgery will- I also received a major bitching about my smoking- Which was pretty much the last straw-

I have quietly lived with out the many thing I used to do to have fun- I don't go out drinking anymore, amongst many other things- Now, they giving me shit about my smoking- I gave him a look that pretty much said fuck off-
I felt like reminding him trying to make me feel like shit, while in kicking distance of my good leg is not the wisest thing-

The nurse looked very apologetic-

I have learned from this experience I have amazing self control- Most often when someone I don't know is trying to give me help that I don't want- My first thought is to lash out-
But something in my brain keeps me in line since this pain is not their fault-

Funny thing is every other person that was there to see the boneman seems to want to compare broken bones- Some weird competition, to see who has it worse- I was annoyed after the first two people-
One lady looked very offended after I told her-
"I broke the bone, it will heal, I move on with my life."
And went back to my magazine-
Why do people do that with complete strangers- I'm just most likely annoyed with it, because it reminds me of being in physical rehab, when they want you to relate to everyone- When all I wanted to do was get out the damn hospital-

----------------------------------------------
It's a bad recording-

coupla phone calls produced no joy, so I mailed it as instructed on security tag to a safe-keeping place.

Wonder what the poor person did in the meantime?
That was very nice of you. Hope you at least get a coffee out of it.

Yesterday, I told Mrs GL that there's a new guy on the WGB, who's working at the South Pole.

I said : "You know... if I was single, that's one of the things I'd want to do."

Raytheon still sends me stuff since I applied with them for Antarctic jobs. I had absolutely none of the skills they were looking for though.

Ouch. I hope the week makes you clearer as to what you want.. didn't you recently go through a fairly crappy break up?? maybe some bruises are still a bit tender?

Yeah and it is, I just hate being so predictable. "Oh I was hurt before so I can't trust you" sounds like such bullshit. I did meet a very cute redhead last night that made me think maybe I really CAN'T make a commitment right now.

I was woke up again today by the roofers at 7:30. I work nights so that kind of sucks. I managed to get about another 1 1/2 hours sleep but I think I had dreams about hearing footsteps.

Not bullshit, just reality. All wounds need time to heal, whether physical or emotional.. and luckily, as a rule, time is all that needed for heartbreak. Just because now isn't the right time, doesn't mean then won't be.

Plus, I'm a huge believer in the thunder bolts and lightening theory. That you know when its the one.. and that the right one will find you at the right time. I met Krad at the ~worst~ possible time, but because he was the one, the other stuff didn't actually matter.

Does that make any sense??

Storm last night, 70 mph winds, many inches of rain, roads closed everywhere. Amazingly I still have electricity!

Home from the funeral. It was pretty tough, even as funerals go. Very long, very over the top.. very emotional. The vicar kept focussing on the sadness, the heartbreak, the tragedy of losing Kim so young.. Plus lots of records played between hymns etc. Full East End style plumed horses and glass carriage too. Her husband is taking it very badly.. He was refusing to allow a funeral until last week (which is why its 4 weeks since Kim died), as he couldn't bear to say goodbye.

I met relatives I haven't seen for ages. One of my uncles attended who I haven't seen since I was about 4 years old.. Johnny is the oldest of my Dads siblings.. (my Dad was one of 14 children (only two of them girls), with 6 of the brothers having died (from Frankie, one below Johnny.. to Kenny, one below my Dad)). Seemed so strange for him to attend Kims funeral, when he didn't attend the funerals of any of his brothers.. Bothering me a bit, as he didn't even get in touch when Dad was dying.. Hmmmm

Nice to see some of my cousins though.. we've decided we all need to see each other under nicer circumstances, so we're planning on throwing a "cousins" party next summer at the eldest (and richest!!) of the cousins house!

You keep that shit, eh? I am sick of Hawaii pushing their crappy rain onto us via that whole "pineapple express" nonsense.

Turned up at 9:30 for what turned out to be a 4:30 appointment. Have been putting off getting a diary until the beginning of 2008. Just have to survive the next week, then I'm on holiday and diaries are irrelevant.

I've just been stuck in a lift (aka 'elevator', for the USians among us) by myself for 40 minutes, thanks to this.

quote:
Office workers trapped in lifts after an explosion in the basement of a central Melbourne office tower have now been freed after power was restored to the area.

Ambulance officers have treated 16 people for smoke inhalation after a blast at 12.31pm in an electrical substation at 570 Bourke Street, near the corner of King Street.

All people who had been trapped in 570 Bourke Street and neighbouring 600 Bourke Street have been freed, a Metropolitan Fire Bridge spokeswoman has said.

Several hundred people were evacuated from the two buildings, a Victoria Police spokeswoman has said.

The explosion initially cut power to more than 240 buildings in the CBD in the three city blocks between Little Bourke, Queen, Lonsdale and Spencer streets.

Power has now been returned to all but a small section of the buildings affected by the explosion.

I work at 600 Bourke St, 570 is the building next door.

All very exciting...

Wow. Glad you're okay, Gromit. Also glad that smoke inhalation was the worst thing.

To be honest, it was irritating rather than dramatic. I had my phone with me, so I was able to call my firm's reception to tell them I was stuck (I hit the lift's emergency button, which rang a bell but didn't achieve anything else).

I guess it wasn't very pleasant for the people next door who inhaled smoke, though.
