*applauds* Fabulous Smile

I had one of my firing squad training sessions thisv morning in one of the less sulubrious areas I cover (*glances in symmetry's direction*). It was OKish - I survived which is a bonus! came out of the grotty building it was being held in, and was arranging paperwork, projector and laptop in my little cart on wheels, and sorting out the bag slung across me.. a woman, I guess somewhere around early thirties walked towards me, with 3 kids.. one around 13ish, one 7ish and one in a pushchair.. "give me a fag" she says to the eldest "aww mum, i've only got 3 left" "give me a f****ing fag".. so he hands one over.. "where the bleedin light then" Kid sighs and says "alright mum" and lights it for her.

And, while I am sometimes not the best judge of age, if anything, I was being nice and judging him older than he was!

Wow, MrsK. That little slice of life you wrote about was pretty pitiful. Son seemed older than the mom.

You know shake, his whole body language said that.. That HE was the parent in the relationship. It was very sad, and I thought I was old and unshockable.. But it really did shock me.

Cheers! I have two hours to change terminals and my Amsterdam flight is a BMI so I should be able to grab the next one if for some reason I miss it, but I'll let you know.

Thanks David! No I don't; I sent mine to Meru with my itinerary but it was under my real name gmail account so may have been counted as spam...I will try again and copy you as well.

Finally had "the financial discussion" about the new job.
Good news is that I won't be facing a direct pay cut.
Bad news is, I won't be getting any payrises next year onwards, as I will be on the top point of the lower band.. Which sucks a bit..

Signing back-the-fuck up for uni.

I don't know why, but for some reason, there's no simply list of subjects you click on to select classes.

Instead, you have to download a PDF, select a class you'd like to take, enter that number into a search box which opens a new windows, from where you then click another link that opens in another window to read about what's in the class, what the assignments'll be like, and if the lecturer's one you've pissed off. Then you click back in the old window to select.

Then, when you're all done, you click another link to cement all these in place.

Bad web design! No biscuit! Bad! No! We don't do that in the 21st century!

You skipped a couple of steps. When you try to read the PDF Adobe will insist you download the latest reader, which will then require you reboot immediately.

Once you've rebooted you'll find that the PDF you were trying to read has it's TOC all screwed up by the new reader and all you get is an error message, after which you will have to reboot again.

Problem is: when I was child, children spent time with children. Parents didn't have to worry about substance abuse and sexual molestation (for the trafficker wouldn't have time enough to sell the stuff and say goodbye to this world... the same with a sexual molester).

Today we got far much tolerant with bad companies and bad behavior, so our children must be kept away, in a "safe environment" like to stand in front of TV or locked in their rooms doing God knows what... (including "social networking" and other really stupid ways of spending time).

You have a way of making people feel free to talk and talk without them feeling they're talking too much. Which is the very best ability an interviewer can have (in a non-adversarial sense). They seem generous with you and not self conscious.

You're really especially good at this, Archie.

Not often I enjoy reading fucking interviews. I can't wait to read your next one.
