I believe Bravus has spoken highly of barbecued wombat steak marinated in red wine and garlic, or deep-fried in a light beer batter...

Nevertheless, wombats are protected animals. So you can´t legally keep them as pets, hunt them or eat them.

If you´ve never seen a wombat, here´s one in its natural habitat:

It's an ambush. Get any closer and it'll ram the hell out of you.

The gunfire around us makes it hard to hear. But the human voice is different from other sounds. It can be heard over noises that bury everything else. Even when it's not shouting. Even when it's just a whisper. Even the lowest whisper can be heard - -over armies... when it's telling the truth.

But.. but.. Alf and Aisla had one on home and away didn't they? Or was it someone in flying doctors..

Nope, apparently it was "A country practice" that someone had a pet Wombat called Fatso. heavens, I never knew I'd watched quite so many Aussie soaps in my life!

It must be Ant Day where you are today. I saw evidence of Ant Day down here either yesterday or the day before (little piles of sand on the cracks in the pavement). It will probably only last today - all the new Queens and workers fly out, mate, lose their wings and either start a new nest or just die.

Hopefully they can. Ask them for a nopal salad, with a nice olive oil and lemon; or added to a tasty alubias soup, or if you're daring, stewed with charales (a type of dried, crunchy little fish) and hot green salsa. Or just roasted (along with some onions) on the grill and served with a nice cut of meat. Mmmh.

Completed a surgical "right of passage" so speak: went to theatre to see a vibrator getting pulled out someone's bum, where they'd over-enthusiastically stuck it to the point where they couldn't get it back out.

I love my job.

Also, I need to get this forum bookmarked at work! I've not been on here for ages!

One day I'll laugh, but right now I cry. In my husband's case, it is sepsis and "deranged liver function".
