Thanks Smile I am expecting a visitor (tonight!), but I always get my hair done for my birthday.

Fashion, that cut is just the cut of the decade! Big Grin looks good. Cute backdrop also.

Now that's the face of happiness right there, Minx. Cheers!

And btw... what's this decade's official numerical designation, again?

We have a 14-hour delay to the start of celebrations, flight delays bla bla bla.

While disappointing, this does increase the chances that the rugs will be vacuumed prior to my guest's arrival Big Grin

It's probably not a good thing when your instructor is unable to decide which of your actions was responsible for rendering the right main tire unserviceable.

I'm sure you won't let a little thing like doing something you enjoy prevent you from writing a long, seething post about it. Wink

Came back from the Alps.
Taking a short break in Paris.
Hopefully I'll catch a screening of The Dark Knight, and find a bookstore that has volumes 2 and 3 of His Dark Materials.
Tomorrow, we're off to Rhodes.

Back in Hawaii after a pleasantly sunny summering with Green Robot and her family.

It's actually cooler in Honolulu than in Vancouver right now!

Years ago I was very good friends with a guy named Scott. I was maybe 20 and he was about five years older. After a time he began to date dana, who had two daughters. One day he brought the girls to my apartment and a was surprised to see two kids about 8 and 10 years old.
"Scott," I asked, "exactly how old is Dana?" He declined to answer but the taller of the girls piped up with "She is 35". Which made her mother none too happy when she heard of it.

I told that story to lead into this one.

So last night we are lounging around the clutter of the girlfriends house. Not sure what to do later but at 8pm she got a call to go into work and dance. FetishCon is in town and the Castle was hosting a big party for the freaks fetish people.

Why do I not like fetish parties? Easy. They sell stripper clothes in XXXL, no vinyl garment should be that big.

Anyway since she was working it I went along with it. Low and behold there are Scott and Dana. With their daughters, now 18 and 20. So they introduced me and I told the first story which made us laugh. Until one of the girls (the topless one with duct tape over her nipples) smiled and winked at me. Then I just felt creepy because she really really looked good.

I'm on my way to Santa Fe for a party George RR Martin is throwing at Melinda Snodgrass's new place for the New Mexico science fiction community. (The excuse is his German publishers are visiting SF, but who needs an excuse?)Should be fun but it looks like it's going to rain like crazy. New Mexico in mid-August and it's chilly and wet.
