Ha! Just finished a Scrubway sandwich myself!

However, I am about 30% into the most surreal movie-watching experience--and not something good like The Prestige.

Do you folks remember that picture of Burt Reynolds in a crown that I dubbed The Canterbury Run? To my extreme dismay, one of my co-workers actually bought the damn thing (because it has Jason Statham in it) and loaned it to me. It took about 20 minutes for Burt to make an appearance and me to realize just exactly how bad this movie was going to get. Even more shockingly, it is littered with good actors--Statham, Leelee Sobieski, Ray Liota, Ron Perlman, Claire Forlanni, that Cereal Killer dude from Hackers...

And it's 2 hours long!1!!1 Did I mention it's 2 hours long?!?!11!? Only an hour and 20 minutes to go. I'll report back if I survive...

Good luck to the Krads!

Making children, the one thing in life that the practice is much more fun than the real thing Smile

Went to the bar I work at Saturday to see a show. It was Hip Hop night, no I don't usually like hip hop but I heard really good things about this guy and was very happy with him. Makes his OWN music and has REAL INSTRUMENTS onstage.

The cheap owner of this place was working the front door herself and had no security. A fight between two girls started and a girl that works there broke it up, so I helped her out. The girls wouldn't let it go though and I would up hauling one out the door. The staff member got clocked by a guy in the crowd so he went next. Finally a little guy ran out the door and threw a beer all over the first girl and then slugged her. I was telling him to go home when everybody went a little UFC on his drunk ass. The fight had dragged out into the parking lot by this point and I figured that was good enough and went inside. I grabbed my girl and told her we needed to leave. I don't need to get shot at all and especially not for free.

Luckily there were no skinheads in this crowd. In fact once I asserted myself they by and large followed my instructions.

... And I lived to tell about it, mostly by running it at 1.5x speed the entire time. Some more facts:

  • It's an Uwe Bolle film.
  • It's based on the Dungeon Siege game.
  • It had both knights and ninjas fighting on the same side. I have no idea how they justified the ninjas.
  • The main dude also uses a boomerang, so apparently there is some form of contact with Australia in this little Christian kingdom.
  • It's called In The Name of The King.

    AVOID IT BY NAME!!!

In other news, I came close to stumbling over practically ever desert animal out here this weekend while hiking and running. Almost stepped on rattle snakes (plural), bull snakes (plural), a desert tortoise, a javelina (which proceeded to jog down the trail in front of me for a good minute), and something large the bolted off through the underbrush from about 3ft in front of me. I have no idea what it was--I suspect a deer though from the size.

    w00t!

Remember the baby fox I mentioned in the QST thread? The one I found on the road with it's back legs crushed and I took it to the vet but didn't think it would live?

Well, I figured it had died because they hadn't called.

They called today. They set the fox's leg and it is now fully recovered. They called to ask me where I found it so they could have the game warden release it in that same area.

    Isn't that fucking great?

    That's an awesome story!

Counterbalances the sadness of Colin the whale calf a bit, too.

Today I got around to looking at some pieces of paper from the letterbox I've had on my desk for awhile (maybe this weekend? maybe last weekend?) and felt generally annoyed.

Looks like we've got local council election next month.

Anyway from it's from these backbirths.

It seems that among their laudable aims are such inspired goals as:

"End wastage of Sutherland Shire money and other resources on multicultural projects"

"Lobby through mass activity amongst residents to end Sutherland Shire's place as a 'refugee welcome zone.'"

" Hold a people's inquiry to exonerate all Sutherland Shire youth and others of any convictions resulting from the Civil Uprising of December 11 2005."

"Oppose by all means, any development project that undermines the character and the quality of life in the Sutherland Shire."

Jeez, a bunch of cunts in Sydney severely opposed to people moving into their city? Who'dathunkit?

Really. Did you get a flyer purportedly from a local mufti calling jihad on all the whities that was printed on Liberal Party stationery?

"Civil Uprising", fuck me. It was surf rage, mixed with racial territorialism. (My solution for if another Cronulla riot happens again is to truck in a heap of Aborigines and see what they think of the "We grew here, you flew here" mentality.)

At least you've got a home-grown white supremacist movement down there. For some reason, Brisbane's got a lot of fucking DavidDuke.com stickers up all over the place.

However, that does in no way make up for the horrendous, mid-1990s style website.

And, of course, a guy like me is a question without an answer to people like those in Australia First.

Had a girl last night ask if she could share our room in Atlanta that we reserved for DragonCon .

I don't know her but she was described to me as a "dominant" personality.

She then tells us that she actually can't pay for her share of the room.

I told her to look up the definitions of "share" and "mooch" and see which applied. Why we would want to put up with her, and from what I understand are the ten trunks of clothes she takes with her and still pay for everything I don't know.

The only good thing about that page is the Otto von Schirach in the player.

    { looks at "upcoming dates" list }

She is pretty cute (except for the sharp bits coming out of her lip) but cute don't get you a free room.

You are indeed becoming wiser, my son.
