Cool, thanks for that, Symmetry. I'm currently working my way through Stewart on my own, but the 'How to Ace' books sound great, and I'll definitely also be checking out that tutorial site. Apparently vector calculus is key for the statistical mechanics I'm taking next semester, but I'm working on expanding my understanding and skills generally. (Doubt I'll work through all of the 1200-odd pages of Stewart, though...)

i seem to be over the weird sickness i've been suffering from. thank God, i don't have time for being sick!
i've brought my Biology textbook to work to read instead of my novel... and i've emailed my notes from class to my work email, so i have all those for study purposes as well.
now as long as it doesn't get too busy, i should get some successful study-time in.

Bravus: I'm doing Stat Mech right now, and not much vector calc has been involved thus far. Just some partial differentiation. *flips through a random textbook at elbow* Nope not seeing much.

However, I am also doing electromagnetic theory this term and that is nothing BUT vector calc, so that alone puts it high on the list of things to come to terms with.

I quite fancy vector calc. It looks cute.

Last Saturday, my cousin was working with Greenpeace, taking pictures and filming their happening at the Salon de l'Automobile.

His laptop crashed, so he came to my apartment to capture and edit the footage on my computer.
His team joined us, and we had a regular crisis-panic-amateur-editing session.

It was fun.

Especially the part where the activists handcuffed themselves to the wheel of a Mercedes. Then, a big southern macho-guy (complete with mustache and accent) sat in the backseat, and heckled them for a few minutes.
"If you like nature so much, why don't you go and wak in the grass, instead of annoying all the good people here?"

Pure magic.

Starting yesterday afternoon...4 PM got a call from the mechanic that the problem with Enzo was merely a sparkplug. Fairly (as in, 110%) confident that I had mentioned the sparkplug to the idiot mechanic who got Enzo running last time as a possible issue and in need of replacement (supposed to be every 3K km, and I'm at 8K with one sanding job).

Work till 6. Drive out to the shop, pick up my keys and stash Enzo outside where I can get him later.

Gas up the car ($50!), top the oil, top the windshield fluid.

Get home, walk the dog. Order Chinese for supper later. Getting ready to leave when I hear my dad will be delayed about a half-hour.

9:40 or so, pick up my dad, we drive to the shop where I don the rest of my gear and grab Enzo, drive home with my dad trailing me in the car.

Get home around 10:45.

Eat, watch some post-debate whatnot on TV.

Midnight, shut down the computer for the night and start packing (the packing conundrum has been nonstop for days. What do you wear to Meet The Parents? my boy laughs at my mental gymnastics, but I think I got it).

0130, finished the packing, read a bit of Infinite Jest, pretty sure I was lights out by 0200.

0600, ARGH get up, coffee, email, etc., shower, in to work four minutes early (!) for the early shift as the usual early girl has a medical appointment.

Later today: 1600 head to Seattle for my 2200-something flight, brief sojourn in EWR before I'm back in my baby's lovin arms in approximately 22 hours.

The good news is, I'm so tired I may actually sleep on the plane...

Is that the very coll guy we met last time? The one who polished off a lot of canard with us in that local resto?

Just asking...
Not because he was hot or anything.

theminx is meeting the parents, theminx is meeting the parents.

Be scared. Be very scared. I was, last time. They invited me to their Golden Wedding Anniversary there and then. So watch out.

Yes, that's him.

He's still cool and hot and all that.

And also still clumsy, and forgetful too.

And that's why I love him. Smile

I just found out the particular gravy train I was on (two jobs, paying the same) is coming to an end...

Kind of a freaky resemblence.

A friend of mine sent me this on myspace,
quote:
RE: ROOMMATE NEEDED

----------------- Bulletin Message -----------------
From:
Date: Oct 7, 2008 8:04 PM

...don't confuse that with roommate wanted ha ha ha! Seriously though, my roommate is moving out at the end of this month. I don't want to live with someone I don't know so don't tell at this point that you know a friend of a friend that needs a place.
Let me know if you're intersted and I'll get back to you with info and probably some questions.

I had to mess with her a bit.
quote:
Body:
Alyse I found the perfect roomate for you,

I would like to be your roommate.

I am an amateur taxidermist so I will need half of the fridge for my 'specimens'.

I am in 3 bands and we will practice in your yard. At 8am. Under your window.

I tend to have a parade of casual sex partners (male, female, indeterminate) that you may run into eating your food, using your bathroom, and trying on your clothes.

I work 3 hours a week as a dog walker. It pays very well and I can give you AT LEAST $25 a month towards rent today.

Can I borrow $25?

I am a very very very neat person, please leave my piles of dirty clothes, cigarette butts, pill bottles, and used condoms right where I put them. This is a very complex filing system.

I don't have a phone right now so I will just start moving my stuff in tonight while you are away.

Thanks roomie!!!

Got up. Went to Ikea. Had cheap Ikea breakfast while waiting for store to open. Shopped. Bought large red bargain of a rug. Came home. Went back to Ikea. Had lunch. Returned red rug and bought even BIGGER red rug at even more of a bargain price.
Came home. Went to laundrette and washed ALL of Kradlets clothes, plus bed linen and towels (as we don't have a dryer at home).
Krad helped mate plaster lounge ceiling during all of this.
I'm so tired I can barely move!

ooh minx.. Smile Smile Smile

of course you will, minx

You are a mother-in-law's dream ... and they can't be half-bad having produced that ace man between them, can they?

Anyway, I never went to that Golden Wedding... you too can chicken out :-)
