Both skills highly useful in the Frozen Wastelands. Good to see you training.

And belated happy birthday, edit. Looks like you had a great one.

I did thank you.

Congrats to mrs gl too. I was trying to figure out why all the people in the pic were smiling. Then I realized, they are on her team. The other team is lying broken and bleeding off camera I am sure.

Not exactly surprising content, however, the interesting part was this:

Now, incidentally, that clause is not in my contract, just this letter. I am no lawyer (if you know anyone, please ask them) but that reads to me that I may not work in the field, for which I make my living, for 6 months AFTER I stop working for them. Since I am already serving 3 months leave (which also protects them since I can't work for anyone else), why add another 6 months? Is this legally binding?

Usually a "no compete" clause is in the contract it self.

Browsing though last Friday's paper:

Student silenced

Mum alleges abuse cover-up

A Warwick boarding school may face legal action from former students allegedly abused by teachers up to 35 years ago.

Skip a bit, brother...

Fifth paragraph:

It also emerged yesterday that Scots [PGC] College settled out of court with a student last year after he took action over a series of attacks that occurred in 1998.

The 22-year-old man - who was just 12 at the time - was assaulted by an older student.

Hey...wait a minute...

I think I remember that. I think I know who the kid might be. And I think know who might've been responsible.

Holy shit, I coulda made some money.

The clauses that they refer to in the letter are:

You will not without prior written consent during your employment hereunder or for a period of 6 months following the lawful termination of your employment

1) Don't solicit or canvas or attempt the same whether directly or indirectly from any client or customer of the Company whom I have dealt with during 6 months PRIOR to termination date or during employment (whichever is shorter).

2) Don't deal with or accept instruction from any client or customer of the Company with whom you had dealt during the 6 months prior to date of termination or during employment (whichever is shorter)

3) Don't directly or indirectly solicit any employee of the Company employed in any executive, managerial, or creative capacity within the last 6 months of your employment to terminate his/her employment with the Company or to accept any other employment.

The top clause says 6 months following but the other clauses say 6 months before lawful termination of employment.

To me, it seems a bit ambiguous. Does the last clause apply to myself as a "creative" employee seeking employment or only trying to lure someone else away?

Sounds to me like you are just expected not to try to take business (clients) or other employees with you when you go. There's nothing in that that makes me think you are not allowed to work for a competing company, unless you were in sales.

I don't think the last clause is supposed to apply to you. Why would you solicit yourself to terminate your employment when you've already terminated it? (But it does mean you're not allowed to encourage your buddies to leave and join you at company B.)

I find it absurd that the company that makes the GTA games, the thrill kill games and the like would attempt to enforce legalese.

I say fuck them. I say, if the call you on it, you shoot the place up with a hooker in one arm and a Kalashnikov in the other.

This Morning, an owl sleeping on the hard shoulder of the M9. Somehow, sort of weird to look at.

I went to the swimming pool with my teammates during lunch break.
I am now a broken husk of a man.

Still, I love my current job situation.

I love it, actually.
It's a job I actuallly know how to do, and where I can learn new stuff.
And there's no pressure.

I'll keep it as long as I can.

Trying to catch up with the last five or six days may prove impossible, but at least I've managed with this thread...happy belated, Edit, and good luck, Boog and Crash.

As for me, my trip to visit my 'Killa was bookended by nights with four hours' sleep, and today I am going to vote on the way to work.

My trip was great! saw some of my friends and some of his friends and we had great weather for 1,000 miles of driving and Pigmomma and Pigpoppa are as sweet as they could possibly be.

Smile
