They gymnastics club I started going to has a sunken trampoline attached to the pit of foam bricks. I can't do much more than the basic moves on the floor, so it's much more fun to learn trampoline moves. It's always so much fun to try stuff, but it's actually quite hard on your muscles. It always hurts like hell the next day, but I never learn.

Climate Defender

"The classic arcade space-shooter with a green twist. As carbon emissions in the atmosphere cause the planet to heat up and the climate crisis grows more imminent, it's up to the Climate Defense Force to prevent global catastrophe.

Scrub carbon from the atmosphere to reduce CO2 levels and earn money. Once you get enough money you can invest in renewable energy such as solar, wind, or wave power, which will continuously reduce carbon emissions for you.

Get the CO2 level down to a safe 350 to save the world. But if CO2 goes over 550, I hope you know how to swim!"

I like the concept. It's a neat way of illustrating the issue in a playful way, and possibly link it with some educational material. I can't help but think you could do some more with it though. For instance, instead of flying so high over a static earth, why not bring it down to a lower level? You could fly over panning sattelite images of problematic areas (Alberta's Oil Sands, for instance), and then create levels per area. Each with the specific ways of polluting which require different ways to eliminate...

(feel free to ignore this if you've already thought of it Wink )

Like a precursor 'when they were infants' scene from Gattaca. Except for the clothes, everything in that picture looks so future tech.

Ack. I am aged.

Not much. I just took some vicodin. It should kick in about halfway through the meeting Im going to. Thats about the time I usually start daydreaming about novel ways to silence the gasbag that is droning on and on. Unless its me of course.

So, Brisbane is now officially a natural disaster zone.

We've been advised to boil our water. Well, some of us have - they haven't been clear on which part of the River City is in the cholera and dysentery zone.

Drank some tap water last night, and so far haven't bled from anywhere I don't normally bleed from (fingernails, eyes after I've been up for three days).

The Army's been called in, which means that poor bastard RAE mate of my brother's out at The Gap, along with "police recruits" and "low-risk prisoners."

More storms are expected though, and the whole place now looks and feels like Armidale.

Yeah, we had relos from Melbourne and Sydney ringing to see if we were OK after the media reporting of the 'disaster of Brisbane'. We just lost power for a couple of hours - as these things tend to be, the destruction was very localised and in our area it was just a very normal Brisbane summer afternoon thunderstorm.

Apparently The Gap is the red zone for contaminated water, so you're fine. A reservoir roof broke and all the accumulated bird and possum crap fell in the tank. I dunno, if you can't drink water with bird and possum crap in it (a) you obviously haven't lived in a house with a tank and (b) you need to HTFU.

Yeah, it was weird moving to Tamworth into a house that had only two taps on the kitchen sink.

Oh, yeah, and some poor bastard uni-student photographer died taking shots in a drain out at Chermside - do you know if he was a UQ student, Bravus?

Gonna be a long fuckin' week for some.

Not sure where he was a student from - he's been variously reported as a teenager, 20 and 23.

I mean, not to speak ill of the dead or anything, and it's a tragic loss, but you'd think "Stay the fuck out of drains in thunderstorms" would be fairly basic survival common sense.

But yeah, it'd suck to have your roof off at the moment, with rain yesterday and today and more storms to come later in the week.
