M is back-- migratory birds like M and Misty return -- is it spring already?

Sorry to hear about your father, M.

I did laundry. Not dirty-- even if it was, not for airing here.

At the moment, my preference is George Clooney. Going to see the latest ASAP.

Believe me, I say this as an observation rather than a criticism...

Two (peccadilloes or peccadillos).

Put my resume in for a position in Peoria, Il.

What sort of web searches can I do to develop an enthusiasm, or even a knowledge of the city, so when I interview I can be really, really enthusiastic about packing up a house full of stuff and moving there?

Okay, Peoria is in the same state as Chicago. I suppose I should check out some local news sources, so I can compare it to Detroit (near where I live now) and Washington DC (near where I used to live)

Maybe I'll check out the density & type of bookstores.

Officemate (who's from Shelby county--four counties south and one county to the east) immediately commented, "On purpose?" But, since you live in Detroit, said you probably wouldn't be bothered too much by weather or economic conditions.

Well, I won't move there unless there IS actually a job offer, so that's the first "economic conditions" test to pass.

I've been reading the Peoria Journal-Star's web site, and I'm seeing a lot of complaints about the welfare mentality, and people who don't take the Bible with sufficient seriousness. I do have to remind myself that only people with lots of time on their hands post comments on news web sites.

Weather is not even a factor, although it may have just a little bit to do with my not looking for work in Alaska.

It's nice to see you all again. Thanks for the kind thoughts.
I'll be sneaking around for a while, I think. So much to read. Everything looks nice and good here, though

I actually had a first for me at work today.
After 6 years of setting up and doing the new install customer interviews
(always over the phone cause they're in the states and I'm in greece but they don't need to know that....)
I got the line: "I don't mean to be obnoxious about it, but I can't do the interview with you tomorrow. It will take us 5 hours just to finish it. I'll have to ask 'what? what?' all the time. Your accent is too thick and I can't understand what you're saying...."
and that was after I had just spent 5 mins on the phone walking her through on how to save her spreadsheet in a format that we can actually open.

I got my boss on the US side on the phone right after that raving about it and he was like 'now you see how it is to be prejudiced against.'
I just couldn't believe it. 6 years on the job this is the first time I ever got such a reaction and I rarely ever get a negative reaction to begin with!!!! I'm very good at what I do. This is like incomprehensible. I can't believe she said to me my accent is too thick. yes I got a fucking accent but not being able to understand me? fuck you beach!

She did it on purpose.
It's a running-gag between her and MOM.

I have heard striv speak (actually, there's a video somewhere on the WGB, I think...), and yes, she has an accent, but it's not hard to understand. Some people are just completely useless at listening.

Some people don't deserve ears.
