Went out to dinner with friends. First Mongolian food which was good. Afterwards we went to a Korean restaurant for snacks and dessert. Hite - Korean beer is not bad but a love in a canoe thing. The Onigiri was very basic but reasonably prized and tasty. The mochi filled with azuki surprised me. I don't like booth very much but ordered it out of a nostalgic feeling. It was excellent. Definitely a place to visit again.

today.... i began starving myself at 12noon. my sister and i are doing World Vision's 30 Hour Famine with her youth group... i get to be chaperone (aka ride herd on a group of teenage girls for almost 30 hours). so i'm drinking lots of water and trying not to smell the delicious dinner smells wafting through this house...

today, after the shop was shut and we were facing (pulling product to the front of the shelves) a co-worker said it was time i told her the story of my life.

i managed to condense it fantastically, the two things she latched onto were the fact that i started high school the year she was born and that i was a natural born jigger (truant) at school.

i actually really enjoy being the only person of my age at work, they're all either 17-21 or 45-55, apart from the store manage who i'm starting to suspect may be very close in age to me. he just sweats a lot and eats newspaper.

Well that sounds sexy. Nothing quite as dreamy as someone that chews the printed word.

he sounds (his accent is) very gay but apparently has a wife built like a brick shithouse and a child he dotes on. i've only ever seen him do work once, when he was doing a guest spot in the fruit and vegie section of another store. he mostly sits in the lunch room tearing strips off the bottom of the daily tele.

Been a few days and now I am back in my office. Checked my bank account and it is possible that within the next month or so I can afford that new powerbook I hope.

Took her home, after telling her she couldn't stay the night it just kind of happened.

Got screwed on one of the loans I was working on Thursday when the soon to be ex-wife rejected the refi and they husband refused to come up with more money to pay her off. These are two of my oldest friends and I was helping them although it turns out I will make very little money off this loan. Lawyers are going to be the next step and the divorce gets real messy. I told them both to avoid fighting over money or anger would poison their lives but they refused to listen to me. They are consumed with punishing each other and getting what each of them considers rightfully "theirs" I almost withdrew from doing the loan at all after the stress of watching two of my best friends disappoint me so much but I was persuaded to keep them as clients so I can make sure another mortgage shark doesn't screw them over.

Also planning on starting my thread about my road trip across the country I am planning for October. Have to do that next. Not sure how many days to plan for NYC to San Francisco.

I saw a stuffed Freud doll in a shop window. I thought it was funny and tried to take a photo, but the camera's batteries were dead. I hope it's still there next time I go by. "Mommy, where's my Doktor Sigmund dolly?"

3:30AM.

Can't fucking sleep.

I'm ripped off my tits on valerian and warm milk, and all evidence insist that I should be passed out like Ollie Reed after a buck's night.

Sanded a sandbox that has been in the wind and weather for the last 5 years without any treatment. Treated it with raw linseed oil afterwards. Much smoother - splinter probability reduced.

Ordered 1 ton of new beach sand to fill it (and share with the neighbors for their sandboxes)

Husband built an additional swing set. Hopefully big and sturdy enough for adults as well.

Went running by the harbor in the evening. The best run I had in a long time.
It was magic hour too and I did have my camera with me. made good use of it.

I'm vacationing in the U.S. and I just had the most awkward dinner with my family in CA. Some members aren't getting along. This is not good and has, for the most part, forced me to stay away from home. I've really gotten the opportunity to learn about my family and how crazy/self-involved/bitter/stubborn they are. Thank god I'm flying out to visit my sister in NC to get away from all this strange family drama.

I just wanted to scream and chuck pieces of turkey broccoli quiche at everyone.

Hugs girl~! families can be like that. Just remember that they are family and there is no getting around that fact.
