Yeah, they've got friends and got settled into their school and stuff, so that was definitely a (wossname, one of those things assumed from the start) in even thinking about it, that we wouldn't move far enough that they had to change schools for at least 2 years and ideally 4.

See, they (and yep, you guessed right, lith) also have campuses at Springfield and Hervey Bay. The fantasy is that I get the job and get them to let me be based at Springfield (south of Brisbane and very accessible from where we planned to move to). Hervey Bay would be nice in 5 years time...

Had a "great" day at work. Got a nice email bitching about a screwup I made yesterday. I never get to bitch at them when they screw me... which is considerably more often than I screw them, bah.

Then I spent the rest of the evening listening to my co-worker bitch about all the Virginia Tech coverage... He seems to think it's overboard and that people are using the tragedy to profit. I don't care, I just want him to shut up.

what is it with vegetarians and mock-meat? i mean, get over it! i don't mind making a token and condescending gesture towards those who want to eat in veg places every so often. but i find it silly when the only things they have to offer you is strips of mock-bacon, or mock sausages, or how about a bit of mock lasagne. if i'm going to eat veg i want veg!

anyway. its the scottish election on the 3rd of may. every pole everywhere has become a tree of placards for all the different parties. which i always find annoying, especially as it takes them more time to get round to removing them afterward than it did to put them up. last night on the way out i was dazzled by something reflecting - independent representative had positioned his laminated card just so on a round about - well he won't be getting my vote. on the way home, about 11pm, dark, two guys with a step ladder, furtive. they were putting up more of these - for scottish christian party. as far as i am aware they are one of those newer parties, outspoken on everything. surprises me they are just getting round to it, and under cover of darkness, they were first to put them in the city centre.

the english council elections are the same day, i think. on the radio on the way home, they were talking about an english candidate, who signed the papers to nominate another candidate, a candidate who is standing against him, a candidate who represents the BNP. the BNP claim to be all sorts of good things, but are generally regarded as being utter racists. a candidate for any party being seen to support the BNP is not doing their career a favour. what a strange thing to do.

anyway. friday. at last. every day this week has felt like it should be bloody friday! trying to decide whether to go to dentists this afternoon or phone them. check-ups are free in scotland, but i had x-rays last time, whcih i guess still cost. at the end of my appointment i went back to reception, signed papers, got new appointment, wasn't asked anything about money, bid a fond farewell, and i left. the other day i got the letter asking me why i owed them money and what i thought i was playing at! i'm a little annoyed. though the fact it was the really cute girl that dealt with me and didn't ask for money, and that its really hard to get a dentist here, means that i can't do too much about it.

Yeah, infortunatly they are. The last estimate I saw put the number of dead at 40,000. You don't get that kind of result accidentally. Apparently China was trying to up the value of their glutens by slipping them into a lot of things that weren't called for. I am not sure if this is the whole truth, but it's all i have found out. I suspect it was some sort of a dry run to be focused on an entirely different demographic.
