I notice this failed to actually get the thread back on track

I, for one, like where this thread has very quickly gone. Threadjacked or not, alot of interesting material is being covered...damn, I should have just named it "Dating thread #3" Wink

Oh yeah, forgot to mention.

Back on, er...

I jerked off to this thread back on page 3.

JUST SO YOU KNOW.

"Crash asked for a beautiful intelligent one, but complained he can't get one. So I offered a solution. Just find one that likes you!"

I didn't ask for one. I said everyone shouldn't feel threatened to approach these people.

I have a girlfriend so this isn't about me. This is about NightShadow (and to a lesser extent Newromancer).

Of course, you want someone that likes you back and why can't this person be "beautiful, etc..." in your mind (after all, this is still subjective, yeah)?

I think the bitchiness wires got totally crossed and rethreaded in the WRONG way. Go back Jasimar, go back CKC, and re-read my posts. You don't agree with me, fine, but so far I haven't read anything constructive to the case in point. In fact, I found your posts, in some ways, kind of the cause of the problem.

Like this one from Pauline.

"Have I mentioned lately how you can smell bitterness a mile away? It's not a pretty smell.
There's one female opinion."

Stellar.

I don't believe there's a prescriptive solution to the 'problem'.

Besides, if it wasn't difficult, the rewards (and pains) wouldn't be all that rewarding (or painful).

You'd just be getting boned.

What's the problem, again?

Crash, my sarcasm detector seems to be broken. What are you actually saying?

I thought the snippy portion of the day ended already? Here's my take.

1. Jasimar says that if you're constantly getting burned by girls, you should go after different types of girls.

2. Crash says (sarcastically) that that's lowering your standards.

3. I say you don't have to lower your standards.

4. Jasimar thinks I said the thing (sarcastically) about lowering your standards. Gets mad at me.

5. CKC points out (sarcastically) that jasimar's response to me wasn't fair.

6. Jasimar and I sort things out. Hugs and crying.

7. Crash posts (sarcastic?) response to our comedy of snippiness.

The funny thing is that it was all a mistake! I thought we'd cleared everything up!

Problem with this particular medium. My wife and I get into more arguments YMing at lunch, just from lack of inflection.

Also, when she gets mad at me I can usually do a silly dance, and then everything's all right. Can't dance over the YM.

He got tired of his old sig, and changed it.

The dog face solution isn't helping either.

Newro, do you mean "puppy dog face"? Where your eyes get all big?

I prefer the dog face where I go "ARF ARF ARF ARF! GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY YARD!"

It has much the same effect on Mrs AC as Shadoth's dance does on his wife.

Prayer in schools. I thought I made that abundantly clear.

Really? I never noticed and I seem to be doing
fine. What I do notice is that most of the guys
who don't agree with you are the ones in
established relationships. Actually, we should
make a poll about that, just to see. Hmm... I'd
need 8 options to properly do it. That's three
too many. Maybe I'll do one of just the guys.

Or guys who have sisters?

My poor little bro. Three sisters and *no* illusions about the feminine mystique.

Of course they don't agree with me. They're in established relationships, ergo the battle is essentially over for them and, like all good soldiers who've earned some war wounds, they'd probably like to forget all the ugliness they had to go through before they FINALLY struck gold with their significant others. And, point in fact, they've got a whole NEW set of challenges before them in their established relationships- apples and oranges.

There's a saying: "Two billion Red Chinamen can't be wrong." That is to say, when the majority of society insists that there IS a battle of the sexes, then it is probably a good idea to at least entertain the possibility and draw your own conclusions from experience.

And experience has shown me that, yes, there is a struggle between men and women. There are inherent differences between them which extend well beyond just the physical aspects and each side is in a constant endeavor to understand, win against, manipulate, control or otherwise overcome the other in a myriad of ways- economically, politically, socially, athletically, artistically, scientifically, emotionally and intellectually.

I'm not saying that it's a bad thing- far from it! The game wouldn't be worth playing if there wasn't so much potential for enjoyment before, during and after each "skirmish".

But to think that the differences between men and women don't breed conflicts, great and small, is either actively ignoring the evidence or simply fooling one's self into believing otherwise.

Imagine: A thousand Buddhist eyes staring at you from across a rice-paddy field, the zeal and hunger in their eyes. And one lifts his fist high in the air, raising the battlecry, "EMBRACE THE TAO!!!!" Then organized chaos ensues.

About guys in established relationships and their views on women and relationships. My sister and I had an argument once about which of us would give better relationship advice:

Me, because I'd had a string of good, longish relationships with great guys.

Her, because she's only had disasterous relationships with bad guys.

Hmm? I don't want to start another gender relations holy war, but I do think that maybe there's something to be learned from a different perspective.

I've been inches away from Ronald Reagan, Helmut Kohl, Maggie Thatcher, at least three Canadian Prime Ministers, Korean and japanese and Russian prime ministers, the King of Jordan, etc etc and you know what, that assasination thought always, I mean always, enters my head at some point. Maybe it's all the dicks with one hand in their jacket and wires trailing from their ears that make me think about it. Don't tell anyone.
