Striv, here's hoping for the best outcome. A change like that for the employees is not much different than a change in salary or job description. It sucks doorknobs. Good luck.

Took my hostage to the Oslo Central Library (Deichmann) after torturing him with hot coffee down his T-shirt. The book torture didn't work on him at all, he positively lit up Frown

He's looking for a place in the outskirts, near the airport. It's a fucking ONE HOUR bus ride going either way!!!

*nod* I've been doing an hour-each-way commute for the past year and a half on top of grad school, and I'm SO TIRED of it. RUN AWAY NOW!!!!!!!! Don't get sucked into it. I'm moving myself, hopefully in October. It's killing me.

That's creative, but you should have known that coffeeboarding would be ineffective on most Wigbers anyway. Wink

Striv, I have to agree that a commute of an hour+ each way just sucks. Realistically, what are your options if your workplace moves?

Move house? Change job? Go shopping for that Saab convertible you've always wanted?

Today either allergies or an impending cold have filled my sinuses to the eardrum. I guess only tomorrow will tell me whether this is really a cold or not. And I have an 8am meeting tomorrow. Auuugh! I'm not actually awake usually until 8:20am, so this will be a challenge...

re: commuting, I really lucked out when they went looking for a new building for us, because it actually turned out to be a shorter commute for me (5 minutes by car, 10 minutes by bike). But I have trouble imagining a commute much longer than 30 minutes; I think I would definitely start digging that hole under the wall then.

didn't you say before that much of your work was one the phone with clients? Is even a partial work from home situation impossible?

Thanks Jim. I did make it back and forth. On the way up it behaved and ran well. On the way back, however, it had little minispasms the whole way home. I may be forced to move up my auto buying plan.

I spend way too many hours at work. I don't wanna bring it home too.
When I leave the office now, that's it, work is on the other side of that door.
I don't have it set up on my home computer for a reason.

I don't know what I'm gonna do. I told him that if he does make the move there are gonna be consequences regarding my hours.

After three meetings, two with the language center director, one with the country manager, I did not get the one-year severance.

I tried my best, gave all my reasons, provided documents, argued, cried out of frustration, made very very good points. But still, I was denied. In the end, it all comes down to being misinformed by the previous hiring manager and instructors having to pay the price for that.

I was trying so hard for all the instructors who have resigned, not just for myself. To not have gotten what I wanted was a big let down.

At least the company will clarify this issue in writing with very specific language from now on. At least other instructors won't have to go through the same thing.

I feel like I failed. I just can't believe this crap.

I need some drugs.

Jeez, Meru, so sorry to hear your frustration. You must be vibrating with frustration!

For the umpteenth time, I gave thanks to the universe that the maximum comfortable capacity of my bladder is exactly the same as the maximum capacity of of wide-mouthed Gatorade bottle: 20 fluid ounces.

Anabel: Thanks for your concern. You know, I've had to fight for a lot of things in my life and I don't back down until I get what I feel is due. But this time, the outcome was still the same: nothing. And I fought with so much passion and intelligence and ferocity and I couldn't change things.

I hate this feeling.

You didn't fail at all Meru.

They failed to be honest and forthright. So if there's any guilt or shame to be assigned, let it be assigned to them. As for that last thought, personally I like chocolate.

I had chocolate cake. I need something stronger.

Maybe some whiskey. Or a good bonking.
